  I think the world can change, i think we have to have hope, otherwise, what is there?

    Well if people loved the starving kids in Africa they'd share their food with them... so I guess all you need is love, and enough food to go 'round =D

      Nonsense. What if I am unable to share my food with starving children in Africa? Would you argue that I don't love them? I could love them and still be unable to help them, but my love alone doesn't put food on the table. More is needed besides just "loving people". That's why I disagree with this airy-fairy attitude that "all you need is love" and everything will magically get better.

          Lol. I'm just imagining Lennon singing that. Doesn't quite fit the metre of the rest of the song. My attitude toward love is that all is nothing without love, but that does not mean that love is everything. Everything requires love, but that does not mean that love requires nothing. Even if everyone loved one another that's no guarantee of "peace". It just means "amiability", but true peace, in my opinion, doesn't just mean that people aren't shooting at each other; children in Africa can be loved all day long by as many people as you like, but if they haven't eaten in weeks, it doesn't matter; they are going to die. Love alone does not solve all of the world's problems.

  why would you love the starving people of Africa, yeah sure I do feel for them it must be hell, but I don't know any of them let alone love them!
  
  There is enough food in the world to go round, trouble is people's love of money, if the hungry cannot afford the food, they stay hungry!

    You can love humanity, thus loving everybody. You can love the entire planet. But I see your point.
    
    Also the condition of needing love is everything is that the love comes from both sides.

  Not true. Perhaps generations and generations from now, without history books and fictionalized violence and wars, people wouldn't REALIZE there's a difference, but peace--a state of calm, unity, non-violence, no war--would exist. It's an adjective for a state of things, regardless of one's realization of it.

  I think a world without violence and conflict would be impossible, and yes even boring. But without war? It is unlikely, but not impossible.

  I see what you're saying Weydon, but I was basing my comment on the concept of yin and yang, which I think holds a lot of sway. How can you have peace, a concept which you described very well, without something with which to relate it to ie its opposite, war. I don't think one can exist without the other. Don't get me wrong I think it would be really nice for a while, but like I said the world would become very boring! Besides humans are naturally aggressive and territorial, so therefore yeah, impossible, as violence and conflict can so easily spill out into all out war, history kind of proves it and history also shows we don't learn from our mistakes. Besides if everyone was to have a lobotomy no-one would really care about much, so maybe that's the answer!
