If there is enough religion to incite war, then how come there’s not enough religion to instill peace?

Because peace is not a by-product of religion. Religion makes man self-centered, not God-centered.

Religion = War13% Voted for by Kevin, tibit, Deadly Shame, Mechanical Angel, fruity loop.
That’s the problem right there. Religion itself has problems and no conclusions to those problems. Believers of what ever faith they are … seem to want to press it upon other people, so they fight holy wars and battles for religious freedom. When will the madness end? 1… when the world ends, or 2. when there is no religion allowed… no talk of a higher god—I didn’t say no belief, I said no talk. Religion will never bring peace!

Peace? There will be no peace10% Voted for by tenebrious, redbrita, The Blind Bandit, forbiddenforgotten.
It is infact that there are so many religions that there is no peace. Like was mentioned above, those who posses a belief insist on pressing it on others, the bible its self states at Ecclesiastes 8:9 “man has dominated man to his injury” and I wouldn’t be scared to say that truer words were never spoken even being written thousands of years ago. Sadly enough most of, if not all, the wars and atrocities throughout time have been the cause of religion. This is sad for those who believe in God and have a religion.

Religion is fine, It’s the fanatics that practice it that cause the problems. Now Peace on the other hand is something the world will only achieve in unison.

Not A Matter Of "Enough"5% Voted for by ShockinglyCute, Deadly Shame.
i think that there will never be “enough” religions to bring peace, as the more there are, the more conflict there usually is. especially if its people believe it blindly and strongly enough. i dont think the amount of religion will help, as much as the harmonious interaction between them.

Religion isn't the answer...God and Jesus are!5% Voted for by jfritzyb, doneus.
Think about it…A set of rules on how to treat a bloody thumb does not stop the actual bleeding of someone’s thumb. In fact, the person would began to hate you if every time that person had a bleeding thumb, all you would do is read a bunch of instructions on how to treat the bleeding thumb and yet, never treated the bloody thumb. Your friend would probably cry out, “MY THUMB IS BLEEDING! HELLOO? IT NEEDS TREATED!” Religion IS the cause of a bunch of wars, yes…However, the heart of the matter lies within the heart of all mankind. In order for mankind to get along with one another, there must be a change with the heart. Until there is a change with the heart, people will keep on acting the way they want to. God changes the heart and when we ask God to fill our hearts with His love, and when we prove to God that we love Him enough to do what He wants us to do, then God will smile upon us with His love and we will get an overflow of His love—and return it back to Him. God changes us—we can’t change ourselves. Simply because we ARE ourselves and because we ARE ourselves, we keep training, one way or another, that part of us that likes to steal, be greedy, and all that. This part of ourselves MUST BE ELIMINATED so that we can live with peace with one another. And you know as well as I do, that on our own, that is impossible. That is why we consult with a higher power—that higher power being Jesus. If we ask Jesus to change us, and IF we prove to Him that we want to change, He WILL change us! And then, and ONLY then, will the bleeding thumb be treated—only then, will you DO SOMETHING about the bloody thumb.

Religions cannot cause war nor peace5% Voted for by nihilismisdead, tmcw.
War comes as a product of two parties wanting one thing and being incapable of negotiating a deal for that one thing. After this process breaks down armed conflict begins and we call this war. Religion has neither the culpability nor the capability to bring peace nor war to any part of the world.

Humanity5% Voted for by run hippie run, redbrita.
Religion won’t enstill peace in the world because everyone has different views on what is right. If everyone had the same religion and the same views, then there may be peace…but if we all had the same views as eachother, then we would, in a sense, be robots. There would be no more wars, but the world would be very less interesting…
Humans as a race are always trying to prove their point better than someone else’s. So in a way, our nature will never lead us to peace. What one preson thinks will be totally different than another and both will want their point to be trusted.
So in short, Religion isn’t the cause of war, Humanity and human nature is the cause

Most of the more modern religions are made, ironically, to promote peace. Christianity, Judaism, Islam- all peaceful religions. Sadly enough, the Christians in America seem to only be Christian either to get other people to follow or to follow. The Jews in Isreal think that because god told THEM they needed to be there, they have to be there, and nobody else (although this is a bad example; Isreal was declared a Jewish state by non-Jews), and Muslims have decided that Allah told them to kill people. Of course, not all people fit these stereotypes; I’ve met some really great Christians, and although I haven’t met any Muslims, I know for a fact that most of them want peace. But seriously. Who really believes in God anymore? If anyone, it’s the Muslims. If Americans truly believed in Christianity, there wouldn’t be the duisgustingly enourmous amount of corruption in our country today. In fact, Christianity has been a corrupt religion since missionarys started converting everything in sight. As for Muslims, they’re for the most part truly devout, just caught in a religious frenzy. Bin Laden? He gave up enourmous wealth to live a life of what, in his opinion, is following Allah’s word. And I don’t agree with his terrorist activitys, but his family had a lot of relations with the Bushes, so maybe he knows more than I do.

Do we need religion to have peace necessarily? I don’t think so. But I see where you’re coming from and that I can’t answer.

People are given a choice, freewill and if everyone believed in God then there would be peace. Religion teaches peace not war. People who fight and say it’s in the name of religion use it wrongly as true believers do not fight!

For some, the wisdoms of religion are enough, for others, it takes some superstition and supernatural. For the rest, nothing sinks in. So it’s off to war with them.

Watch the comedy Dogma.Voted for by justonewish.
Although it contains somewhat crude humor, it has a few very good points about religion. They say that God (God, a god, any gods) meant for religion not to be a system of beliefs which are strictly adhered to, but an idea. An idea that some supernatural power is responsible for our existance and it is worthy of our admiration and praise if it is that powerful. That’s all there is to it. If we’d stuck with just an idea rather than many different systems of beliefs, perhaps religion would not be a cause of war.

Individuals.Voted for by Morgaine.
Religion isn’t the cause of war, war isn’t caused by religion. It’s all due to individuals; if you want to find peace in your religion, you will, but if you seek war there are plenty religions who will support you.

...Voted for by RothMcVeReagan.
it isn't that there isn't enough religion for peace, it is that there are too many religions for peace. to have peace there needs to be only one religion, that way no one would have anything to argue over, and nothing would escalate into war
