IF YOU DONT LIKE IT WALK AWAY21% Voted for by APACHE143, Soulmate143, Bob the Elder, sjrlink100, classical beauty. (6 total)
As a pub manager I must admit that most of my customers are smokers. I dont smoke myself and I dont understand why this country is now trying to tell people where they can and cant smoke. If I feel there is too much smoke in a bar or resturant i'm in then my feet can do my talking and I can take my business elsewhere. If Mr Blair was so interested in my health then why is it now ok to smoke other drugs on the street but not ok to smoke an ordinary fag in my pub??????????

i think that they should not jepordize other peoples lives and just go outside for a few minutes anyways10% Voted for by Kazrith, ohsweetie2788, mylegisnumb.
I would have to say that the smokers that you find inside bars and restuants may not really mind having to go outside. and if they do, dont you think that is a little selfish? those who dont want to smoke are no less not made for drinking. so we all would rather kill everyone else who doesnt want to smoke just so we can sit around a table drinking beer and cocktails with a blue haze hanging around our heads?

Pro smoker10% Voted for by bloodshoteye, Mz Triste, jojo12790.
Segregated sections at restaurants were made for a reason - to diminish the smoke on the non smokers side of the restaurant. As for people being scared that it might affect their health, why are they so selctive? You don't see many people going up to cars at red lights asking if they'll drive their car elsewhere. Further, non smokers along with almost every other human being do unhealthy things. Breathing polluted air, drinking tap water (or adding it to whatever they eat), eating microwaved food, etc. No, I'm not saying everyone does these things, but I haven't met a person yet who has not.
More to it, but I just got lazy.

Room To Smoke7% Voted for by the alien-joseph, sjrlink100.
I am a non-smoker, but I live with and know many smokers. I have a lot of sympathy for those who cannot smoke indoors during inclement weather. I have seen what I believe to be the best solution for all involved: a smoking room.

Smoking Is Nasty7% Voted for by Ava Noire, concrete sky.
If you want to smoke, fine but don't jeopardize my health by smoking indoors. Even with smoking rooms the smoke TRAVELS! You think smoking stays in one place?
There is nothing that pisses me off more than going to a restaurant and trying to have a decent meal with my husband & 2 year old daughter and having to deal with smoke.
Yea there are smoking sections but usually they are not even on separate ends of the building, and smoke travels and its hard to eat with smoke hanging over you. In the past we would leave. whether we had finished or not, and that is not fair to us. A smoker can go outside rather than harm those nearby.
And I don't want to hear lame excuses like "we all do bad things." We really can't help whats in the air, we have to breathe but we don't have to breathe smoke.
If you want to smoke, go outside. Thats all I ask.
There are people who have respiratory diseases, and smoking can really worsen their condition. I find smoking in a public place selfish. (Unless you are outside).
Smoking is your decision but you shouldn't choose to hurt other people. Especially children.

I want a fag now

if someone wants me to move when i'm smoking fair enough, but if i was there first - say siting on a park bench - they can kiss my ass, politely.
i mean, if they're taking the piss a bit, it isn't really ruining their lives or bothing them, they jst dnt like the idea of me smoking then screw em, and you can usually tell.I agree with ppl saying their rights as non-smokers, and yes we can go outside n smoke, it'll also give us an insentive NOT to smoke and therfor make us healthier.
it is pridicted they're taking that idea up slowly over the UK anyway, so i have that to look forward to
live and let live ppl, ur not theonly person in the same place at any one time, and be nice!

we weren't meant to breathe in the crap that's in a cigarette7% Voted for by Ava Noire, concrete sky.
we were meant to breathe in air and should not be forced to take in other harmful toxins because of those who choose to smoke. are you aware of people who have gotten lung cancer because, though they had never smoked, they were around smokers on a regular basis? and now these people have literally recieved a death sentence because some people thought polluting their own lungs and others was more important than letting the non smokers breathe clean air. that's just not right.

I hate smoking7% Voted for by newmiracle87, Keegan A Combes.
I don't approve of smoking. I personally cannot tolerate cigarettes. When I am in the room with someone smoking I have to leave in order to breathe. Smoking is inconsiderate to yourself, the people around you, and the environment. Anyone who smokes should quit.

Smokers are common morons7% Voted for by concrete sky, Edna Sweetlove.
People who smoke are stupid. They are ugly and common. They all deserve lung cancer. To inflict their stupidity on others should be a criminal offence as it is in Italy, Ireland and anywhere civilised.

well....7% Voted for by sjrlink100, catseyes2468.
I am a smoker , i get the non smokers point of view but not allowing people to smoke in a bar is unfair they should separate a smoking and non smoking area, every smoker knows when you drink you want to smoke

WellVoted for by Scrap.
I can totally see the restaurant idea and other places. But i just connect bars with smoking myself and don't understand why it would be prohibitted there. Generally, people aren't going to bars for clean living. But I guess people probably said the same stuff when smoking was gradually prohibited in other places.

what do you people think of cigarette smoking?Voted for by hellizacomin.
i am a smoker and no i am not trying to advertise that but i think it is totally wrong to degrade smokers and make them go outside to smoke at pool halls and bars. its not right. the majority of people at a bar smoke so why do we have to cator the non-smokers. if it bothers you so much dont go to the bar, you werent meant to drink. what is everyone elses opinion about this topic?
