At work today I heard this song and one part caught my attention. It was “the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love and be loved in return.” (It was also in Moulin Rouge.)
Does anyone agree with this or have a different opinion?

I’ve always liked that quote. If you interpret it broadly enough, I’d have to agree that I can’t really think of many sensations better than that.
Other than alcohol anyway.

There is so much we are uncertain of, that the few things we do know for certain are precious. May it ever grow, with interspersed Dark Ages…

I don’t think that you can define what the greatest thing in life is. It all depends on the eye of the beholder. Although in my opinion I agree, I think that there is no better feeling in the world than the feeling of being loved back. There are other pleasures in the world that can amount to the greatest things in life but the feeling of being loved in return is the greatest to me.

i love this quote and wholeheartedly believe it…if you have true love no matter what the circumstances, no matter what situation you are going through if you are deeply in love you will still be happy and fulfilled. i think learning to love and be loved in return is the most important skill you could ever acquire, the best thing you could ever know.

Love7% Voted for by AbstractedMind, ohsweetie2788, neofit.
I agree with that because Love is a great feeling nothing can replace and the best feeling i have ever felt. Yes satisfaction with yourself is great but even that cannot compare to learning how to love especially those who are very hard to love.

Life itself5% Voted for by XxX-Scarred-XxX, CLoUdY.
I LOVELOVELOVE that quote, but i think that the greatest thing in life is just life itself. being able to wake up in the morining and know you have another day to lie and do and spend with your friends and loved ones. Waking up and taking a breath knowing that there’s air to breath. It’s awesome. I can’t wait to go to sleep so i can wake up and expirience that.

Life AND Love5% Voted for by CLoUdY, ohsweetie2788.
I Love all of life. Every person that walks this planet, even if I dislike them, I love. It doesn’t have to be a person or even be on this planet. Why? because life is love expressing itself. So I wish to express my life.

John S. Mill broke it down to pleasure. That the greatest thing (the larger category) is pleasure. People think of pleasure in different ways.

I like the quote, but do not know if that is the greatest thing. Peace of mind in my opinion is the greatest thing. Without that you cannot love and will not be loved. Great quote though.

This is part of being loved, but I think the best thing about life is grace and forgiveness, which came from the only true and pure form of love, God's love.

loved by loveVoted for by easter bunny.
being loved back by the person you love the most is just so overwhelming. so satisfying. and it happens when you least expect it! but, its also sad in a way. because you long to meet the person again and it seems like you're going crazy without the person you love.

Greatest thingVoted for by AngelsLethargy.
The greatest thing in life, in my own personal opinion is the dying moments where you’re glad it’s all over with.
That’s a little morbid I know but it’s always reported by people that are revived that they were just so very peaceful when they died. I think that would be the greatest thing in life.

Freedom (not the US kind)Voted for by -TheLoneWolf-.
I agree with Dj-Dolli's opinion, but I also think of freedom, no not the US kind of freedom. Freedom of soul and body. Freedom of the wind and being able to do anything, so it also ties in with greatness, because only great people can be free. Also, I do not mean peaceful by free, I olny mean free. For example, I will never be free if there will be complete peace, it sets limits to me, because my defeniton of free also includes free to violate laws and fight.
