AbsurdVoted for by Dubeychan.
Not to say that he doesn't exist, simply to say looking for him is absurd. Unless you're going about it the right way. Because I presume that when you say you're searching for God you are searching for whether or not he exists. That is absurd. There is no way to prove or disprove God's existence, I don't care how many arguments a person uses.
On the other hand, if you already believe that God exists and now you're searching for him in the sense that you want to better know him because he exists, then this is not an absurd endeavor, and with enough dedication, and faith, you can and will succeed.

The Chaos...Voted for by Shadman.
Chaos of Religious Mind 1. Are we Human being, Social creature, Part of progressive society, Secular Indian citizen, Patriotic or Religious (Let say Muslim?) 2. Are these brackets mutually exclusive or overlapping? 3. Can’t we be religious (Muslim) with all other attributes as well? 4. Why it is so that when we want to be part of progressive society or to be secular we need to be less religious (Muslim)? 5. Why we feel shame in talking about Religion (Islam)? 6. Does this mean that we becoming communal? 7. If we show love for our religion (Islam) does it mean we hate or don’t respect others religion? 8. Is the right of discussing Religion (Islam) lies only with Moulana and Ulema? 9. Is the Religion (Specifically Islam) really Personal? 10. Is Religion (Specifically Islam) really not Socio-Economo -Political complex system affecting the Individuals from every possible angle?
Why should I be Religious? Should I follow religion because I see others following some religion?
Classifying yourself into some religion is the way world has shown to you and you will have to classify yourself into some brackets. (Christian, Jews, Muslim, Hindu, Hybrid or Secular?)
Every religion doctrine is based on few fundamental parametric principals namely, a. The God(s) b. The Prophets / Incarnations. c. The Divine book(s). d. Revealed code of conduct and guidelines. e. The day of judgment f. Actual Practices and Inventions incorporated thereafter
And today, we have diverse religions and sects different from one another based on above parameters.
The question of following one religion, -truly / strictly or, -partially or, -based on our convenience depends on the answers and explanation for following two suppositions. (They are mutually exclusive; if you prove one as True other will be automatically become false)
1. There Exist the God (the supreme power) and True Religion. 2. No God Exist and we are following man made religions and sects
Lets us discuss the Second case… The origin of Religion under this assumption could be explained through several ways and reasons. Few of them are listed below.
1. As Eric von Daniken wrote in his famous book Chariot of God that what or whom we follow / preach today were not the God / Prophets / Incarnation but they are visitors from outer space, more intelligent and knowledgeable then us and they have shown us the better way of living.
2. More thoughtful, Intellectual and imaginative human of the era, based on their past experiences, suffering and learning has Started / devised / proposed the new ideology for better way of living.
3. With ages, some more intellectuals have refined / added into the old preaching and ideology based on their enlightenment and intellects.
4. Sometimes faith itself gives birth to God. For example faith in a Psychic healer and his/her tricks could results into the villagers declaring him/her as God or God’s incarnation followed by the start of different faith altogether after cumulative generation error.
There could be many more way and examples for this case. But for this assumption, bottom line is, it’s all human made (I am taking the liberty of calling our Outer space friends as Human) for betterment of human. e.g. “For the people by the people” approach, much similar to constitution of any country or code of conduct of particular Industry or profession.
Akbar (The emperor) and many more were of the same opinion and that’s why you notice many small sects like Deen-e-Ilahi being proposed and nurtured during their tenure. These preaching are nothing but the suggested improvements / Strategic combination of different practices from different religion with the sole intent of gaining popularity and followers, and generally to improve the life of common man and to achieve absolute peace in the diverse / conflicting society.
All these gentleman thought that they were more intelligent then their older generation preacher and by virtue of being more enlightened they can do the preaching and guiding with much more ease, conviction and effectiveness.
As a matter of the fact, Child is father of a man; we are more knowledgeable, analytical and scientific then our older generation. The brain capabilities have increased since generations. One could think that we (may be one of us) are in better position then any of our older generations as far as knowledge and consolidation of information are concerned and hence we may also propose / refine / add to existing doctrine as per our understanding and ease. This has resulted in to into distorted Islam / a Distorted Christianity or Hinduanism or completely new faith.
With the Hypothesis of no God and Human made religion, there is no theological problem. You only need to satisfy the society ethical pattern and one should be free to follow whatever they like e.g. they may follow their own (Home or office) made religion and one should have liberty to call it by any name and let it be personal, Or one should follow the religion (which interests us most and easy to follow) proposed by (whom we believe to be the) most Intellectual person of the era may be some alive scientist or economist or poet or King, or one may follow his/her Country’s Constitution as their religion.
It’s all okay to follow any practice and any religion as long as we suppose following, -There is no God and all the existing religions are man made. - There is not going to be any dooms day. And no body is watching us. - Our existence is absolute in nature. - No body is going to ask us / judge us based on our deeds (during our stay at this planet) after soul depart from the earth.
The religion to be followed with this hypothesis must satisfy following Conditions
- Easy to follow, preached and practiced. Should not trouble anyone. - Non Differentiating, No minute detail on code of conducts etc. - Should not contain guidelines as every body will be on their own will and they know better. - It should be personal matter. - Should be too much flexible - Individuals should have the rights to modify the practices and concepts based on his / her convenience, experience and understanding. - It should be like fairy tale. All goody goody stuff with no interference with practical life and issues.
On the Lighter Side; if one could design the doctrine fulfilling following points you may gain maximum number of followers.
Lets us discuss the first case …
Assuming there is one Supreme Power, following possibilities exists - There has to be one religion. (But we know of so many!) - It was one religion and then people over the period of time has distorted and create branches , sects and sub sect from it based on their understanding and visibility. - This implies that all the known religion today was converged in the past and they diverged later. - Only one religion among all is the most favored path by God. While others are distorted (cumulative error accumulation over the period of generations).
With this Hypothesis, it’s every body’s duty to know and follow the righteous path and religion and to recognize the Super Power Almighty God.
Few queries one must consider and answer before we proceeds further
1. Do you believe in the divine literature? ( there is nothing like partially) 2. If you believe partially, you are creating another sect or sub religion.
How to recognize the Gods most favored and true religion I personally don’t believe in the phrase mostly used by Religious devotee’s i.e. “Where the logic and Science ends, faith begins “
In my view, Science is the study of Nature, Universe and its belongings, and the Universe, the Nature is the work of God, so by Studying Science, actually you’re studying and understanding the work of God.
One should apply mathematical Induction kind of method to prove the basic religious doctrine to him / her inner selves. i.e.
Apply whatever proven knowledge (Scientific, Historic and Analytical) you have today in understanding your basic religious doctrine i.e.
1. Prove it for N= 1, 2, 3 (comparing different religious principals and their satisfactory scientific explanation) 2. Prove it from N = K and K+1 (This is till the limit of your understanding, explaining the very trivial and complex cases) 3. Hence it may be assumed to be true for all other places and areas where you don’t have understanding. (Now Blind faith will start)
If your religion is not the most authentic or distorted, the human induced cumulative errors over the generations will be exposed and the test will fail at step 1 itself. Otherwise the test will pass and you should be confident enough that your religion will pass the entire test if it is true.
I personally tried this technique with Quran and Alhumdolillah I got answers to majority of my questions, and for the rest Science is the Limit. May be we will get all answers in coming generations.
Don’t follow the religion based on only beliefs and don’t create God based on your faith, Almighty Power exists and you need to put efforts to recognize and find him so make use of solid Scientific and Historic knowledge to understand your religion so that it will result into Strong faith (blind) in Allah.
The route of Religion Vs Philosophy and Metaphysics are different and one must least use Philosophical and Metaphysical ways to understand the religion right from the beginning though they converge after attaining maturity in faith and belief.
In today’s world, the Understanding of religion should be based on History, Scientific, practical and logical explanations.
Once this basic plinth work is done, - We will have strong faith in our religion - We will not feel shame in practicing rituals - We not say Religion is personal affair - We will not feel shame in talking about our religion - We will practice it not as social obligation but as our duties - Worldly affairs will bother us less - We will stop creating trouble for others and live in piece.
Some queries and thoughts on current Practices of Muslims
1. Why we are All-ally (educationally, socially, economically, politically etc) backwards 2. Why most of us feel inferior when exposed to the practices of modern world. 3. Why we always mix cultural and religious practices. Why there is very thin demarcation between culture and religion. 4. Why there are so many sects and different sets of practices within Islam and why we criticize others and their practices. Should we? 5. In most of the cases, why only less educated and less intellectuals are sent to Mosque / Madarsa to learn Din and Hifz Quran and to become Moulana thereafter. 6. Why most of us dare to question even to clear our own doubts. 7. Why we keep quite / shout on them when our younger asks us point blank questions 8. Why most of us don’t know what is written in Quran though they pray 5 times a day and fulfill other arkaan 9. Is Arabic only language Allah Understand? Is our religion geographic / Language / culture specific. 10. Why we generally perform rituals specific to our ancestors & legacy culture wholeheartedly but we miss our regular Farz. 11. Why our religious leaders instead of teaching religion, its compliances and practices, issues Fatwa’s and report Non Compliances more frequently. 12. Why it becomes a huge issue when some writer writes their views about Islam and practices. Howsoever silly it may be but some body or other issues the Fatwa to kill / outcast the guy immediately. Are our religious leaders’ gets a shock after reading the views? And they don’t have answers so they feel offended! Or is our religion so weak?
In my View, The Cause of problems Muslims are facing today lies with not having enough understanding of the religious doctrine at basic level and lack of believe in the authenticity and truth ness of Islam.
Since Centuries, great preachers are expanding the preaching of Islam. A large amount of the Non-Muslim when come into contact with these preachers were converted to Islam after seeing their quality of character, peaceful and intellectual way of life, logical and clear conversation, and convincing powers. This is how Islam was propagated since centuries. These converties have stared regarding the preachers as their role models, and the chain continues.
Generation over Generation, human errors have started accumulating and culture stared mixing with religion. The reason being we were more concerned about our own legacy and culture specific to our own family and ancestors i.e. immediate node and not the starting node; the basic essence of Islam. The result is what we see today, hundreds of different practices of religion within very small geographic region itself!
Our sources for practices and religious learning started differentiating and hence we stared diverging.
As a mater of fact, all these different sources were derived from one basic Source i.e. Quran and Hadith Plus The teaching of most knowledgeable priest of the previous /old era with distortion accumulated over the period of time Plus Cultural influences.
Isn’t right time for all of us to look at the Basic source once again, primarily because it is the most authentic and truthful?
One may argue that great scholars of every century has done this work and they have shown us the path after understanding / interpreting Quran and Hadith based on their knowledge and Intellect so why it is required now? Shouldn’t we follow whatever is available?
As we Know, Quran is the word of God and it was revealed for the benefit of all mankind. One require tremendous amount of knowledge to interpret / understand it if not fully but up to the certain limit as imposed by virtue of being human being.
The Scholars has done the greatest job of their time by translating / understanding the Quran and Hadith based on their understanding, knowledge and visibility.
But as generation passes by, the level of intellectualism, Scientific and logical temperament of average human being has increased tremendously. Our overall visibility of Nature and its understanding has increased manifolds. We are in better position to understand Quran and Hadith in the light of Modern knowledge.
Please remember, only Quran and Hadith are divine and rest other literature are produced by eminent scholars to the best of their understanding and knowledge and limited by human error and intellect boundary of that era.
If we follow the old translation and interpretation ditto, are we not enforcing limitation of older generation as the guidelines for new generation?
In today’s world, if we need to teach Basic Islam to our children, older techniques may not work. Inquisitiveness of the young’s has also got increased since generations. Are we in position to quench the thrust of younger curiosity or we will force the religion to them without making them understand? They may be looking practicing to us but what about the questions rising in their mind.
You need to convince them about the basic doctrine and framework of our religion before they started understanding it from wrong sources. (Today we have more number of wrong sources and influences then yesterday).
You need to capture their minds, practice will automatically follow.
Forcing the practice may work as long as they are dependent but what if once they become independent. Can you control them? Or what education will they give to their next generation if they themselves have not understood it?
The way, one may understand the Unity of God (Allah) and Islam may differ from person to person based on their background. E.g. Understanding channel is different for different class of people, and this should be taken into account while teaching them.
Example:- A Physicist would feel more convenient to understand the Allah as described in Islamic Literature as Noor (High Energy) based on Grand unification theory.
As it is known in literature of Physics that entire universe is made up of different combination of these 5 forces namely gravitational force, Magnetic force, electric force, long range nuclear force and short range nuclear force. GUT say that at very high energy the behavior of these forces converge and it is very difficult to differentiate between the different forces.
One may assume the high energy as starting and governing point of this universe (Kayenat). It would be easy for any Physicist to understand Allah this way then the other though not fully but it will give some understanding and conviction.
Most of the finding of current researches are tallying ditto with Quranic text, these were not known to our previous generations and with future researches, more and more things will become clearer to next generation with our generation not being in picture.
Islamic Learning is never ending exercise and should be continued till the Qayamat.
Let’s keep learning and provide the ways of learning to others.
