Magic or however you want to say it, write it, or spell it, doesn't matter, I for one believe in curses, like the one surrounding my family. If their is anyone who wishes to help me find, or claims to be one of the remaining 4 dragon spirits left on this earth leave a comment. As for me, I would appreciate anyone who could help me to solve the mysteryies of the universe, and of my dragon bretheren. Emerald Sapphire Dragon

Redefining Magic8% Voted for by silverfang420, LoveWillTearUsApart, DancingRed.
I absolutely believe in magic. It is simply a bending of certain "laws" of physics, which can be done in a laboratory. We cannot forget that less than a century ago, using a little box with moving pictures to communicate with people all over the world would have been not only considered magic, but heresy as well.

That which we call magic can always be explained by some other means. Just because we don't know how it works yet does not mean there is no explanation and it must be magic.

I think magic is a lable for something that just isn't yet understood, or something that is new, and cannot yet be controlled. I don't think that everything can be explained, I believe that some things do just happen, but magic seems to be used more as a way to dismiss something that is harder to grasp.

Yes I strongly believe in magic but at the same time anything is magic until it is explained. There was once a time where electricity was magic. When it is explained and proven to exsist people change the name from magic to science, they are both the same thing.

Not only do I believe in magic/magick/magik (et.al) but I see it as a way of using the subtle essences of nature to affect your own change. However, one must be conscious of the fact that since everything comes from the Most High, to call out any other name (and the Most High is the Nameless One) in reverence and/or in worship is what makes it an abomination to the Lord Most High. Not only that, the magician usually thinks they are the reason/cause of the change, when magick is only a petition for the desired outcomes...it is the Most High that makes it happen...that's why so many people practice with disasterous results, either they don't get what they want, or they get more than what they asked for, or they get what they wanted but not the way they thought they should get it. The best magick is prayer. You don't need to buy anything and you don't have to chant anything. Just ask and it will be given. But do believe, Magic is real, very real.

Pragmatism5% Voted for by holloweyed, Jesusquest.
I do believe in magick, but my belief in magick is different from those above me. Magick is, to the fullest extent, pragmatism. It is a means of getting what you want that could not be achieved except through the slight possiblity of several very quaint coincidences. Magick is the belief that when you do one thing, it will somehow, inexplicably trigger another.
Magick is not explained fully. Nor does it need to be. Because magick is a faith that has been proven through centuries of action and reaction. For example, it is magick when your camera breaks and you find that the only way for it to work is to hit it three times and blow on the lens. These actions have nothing to do with actually fixing a camera, but it works. So why not do it?
Magick is the very same way. It might not be because of some supernatural, mystical power. It might not be a gift of god. But what we do know is that when we do this, that happens. And we like that. So we keep doing this. Even the best scientists in the world have had these experiences.
So magick is all that is speculated of truth but cannot be explained.

yeh, it only works if you truly believe in it... ie, it's only real if you convince yourself it is before you try it. and conversly, if you're cynical, it automatically won't work. a tricky one... it's kinda a foolproof you-can't-prove-me-wrong. well i think it's just people convincing themselves of something which isn't actually there, but indeed i could easily be wrong...

What you want.Voted for by BehindTheseEyes.
Sure I beleive that magic is real, but it's only if you truly beleive in it and let your mind envelope it. Magic is another way to express the human emotions. Some may think it's supernatural but if it was wouldn't we all be? So wouldn't it be natural to be supernatural? So yeah magic is real, it's just another way to express emotion.

"magic" is science that we have not yet fully "proven" in a scientist's view. (however it has been proven many a time)

Magic is a spiritual science. I therefore believe in it, but not as most people do. I practise alchemy, which is basically what people would call magic, but it's looked at at a scientific stand-point. To understand, break down, and rebuild. It is not easy to explain everything that is done by alchemy, but many things can be explained by it. Like spiritual healing, alchemy, science, is used to go inside, find the flaw, and understand it, break it down, and rebuild it as something good to strengthen the body. All I'm saying is that it's magical, but it's not magic.

I am a firm believer in the Magickal arts. People say there is always and explination, always something "logical". Can these people then explain to me the spirit of my grandfather (THAT I HAVE SEEN) lingering at the home of my granmother? Can they explain to me why certain herbs and teas that I use have helped me in different aspects of my life? How saying a small charm/affirmation has helped me succeed in little areas? Magick is not a science, and it is not a scapegoat for everything that cannot be explained, it is a sacred art, an art that many believe in.

What do you call magic though. Do we just describe magic as being the world, because some may say the world is magical and so is everyone in it. Then you have other magic as in witches and paganism etc. A witch make cast a "spell" that makes someone fall in love with her and dump someone else. Is that magic? Is that something that can happen, or as some of you have said is it just your imagination, what you believe is real? Please help me understand this cos' its doing my head in.
