A friend of mine says that everyone she knows who is a Republican prefers the Yankees ( as opposed to the Mets ) and Pepsi ( as opposed to Coke ). She says that everyone she knows who is a Democrat likes the Mets more than the Yankees and Coke more than Pepsi! What do you think about this? Is it true ( and if so, why? ), or is my friend just plain nuts?

Dr. Pepper23% Voted for by Energizer Bunny, White Fang06-07, The Blind Bandit.
I'm a republican and I prefer Dr. Pepper. What difference does it make actually....

Now that you mention it...Voted for by survivalism.
Thats really creepy...but true for the majority of people I know. Hmmm...really strange that is. I wonder if it's just conincidence or there's a strage mystical connection...

my voteRepublicans believe in not letting the goverment get too involved, less government control, free enterprise and all that. The Yankees are not that at all to me. They have way too much money being handed out by the front office and they're players truly aren't earning their wages in my opinion.Voted for by jonesz12.
I'm more toward Republican and I hate the Yankees, but that's just because I'm also a sports fan who thinks that the current Yankees are the worst thing that's happened to baseball since steroids.
Granted I don't like the Mets either, but I'd choose them over the Yankees any day. -
HahVoted for by Scrap.
I've actually noticed a similar trend for Yankees-Mets thing. It's not like it's every time, or even close to every time, but it does seem to happen a surprising amount of times. Coke and Pepsi I've never reallly payed attention to.
I figure, if anything, which team you like more could have something to do with your background. Hardcore Bronx and Brooklyn bad asses seem to have a higher percentage Republican, people in timid old Suburbia have some more Democrats. But there's also a slew the opposites in the areas.
I'm a Yankee fan, but that's simply because I was born and raised as one by my Republican family.

Pepsi or Coke; depends what's on sale!: )Voted for by teraswu.
I'm bipartisan
depends. Sometimes I like coke or pepsi, kinda prefer pepsi. Not a staunch republican or democrat, depends on the issue. Last time I voted though was republican, right now not sure. I like Nader on some issues. -

Why is this even on here?Voted for by Xadrian.
It's rather pointless if you don't mind my frankness. And even if you do, who cares what the parties drink other than the companies who get sponsered by them?

Yup, I've noticed thatI've noticed the same thing--at least in the northeastern U.S. It could very well be different down South. Most of the Pepsi-drinkers I knew when I was growing up wore reflector sunglasses, drove convertible Camaros, and would give you this trademark sneer (usually with a cigarette hanging out of the side of their mouth) any time you spoke in sentences of more than a dozen words or so, or suggested that you do something that wasn't on a carefully monitored list of "cool" things to do.Voted for by nordmann.
Most of the Coke drinkers I know liked to read books and talk at length about current events, and would much rather go hiking or bicycling than trolling for "chicks" in the parking lot of some mall. Of course, given a choice of any beverage at all, they would actually prefer a locally-made ginger beer (e.g. Raccoon Saloon) or green tea over Coke, but if the choice was Coke or Pepsi, they preferred the flavor of Coke.
Coke simply has more flavor than Pepsi. Pepsi is a very simple drink. It's a lime-flavored cola, plain and simple. Coke has all sorts of extra spice flavors in it that makes it more interesting. Democrats tend to like food and drink that has complex and interesting flavors to discuss and debate over. Republicans most often don't care too much about flavor, just so long as you get a gigantic pile/bucket of it as cheaply as possible. If it's available from a drive-through window., all so much the better so that they don't have to haul themselves out of their SUV and actually walk 50 feet.
Of course, there will always be plenty of individual exceptions to what I've said, but this is the general trend that I've noticed.
