Progressive creationism and my book 'Creation and Cosmos; The Literal Values of Genesis'
-
Indeterminacy of translation/cosmology/GenesisVoted for by GaryCGibson.
The Bible is the true word of the relations of mankind to God in-the-world and of it's possibilities. Eschatology is a consideration of the end times of the history of mankind in-the-Universe. With the modern cosmological advances in observation and theory many interesting associations between Biblical concepts and literal values becomes possible.
A deicitic reference was noted that the word Ararat did not exist before the 7th century Jewish transliteration of the word 'urartu' into that form. Urartu was the name of a northeast kingdom in what is geographically known today as Iraq that was destroyed by the assyrians in the 7th century b.c--if I recollect that correctly. The ark thus came to rest in Urartu...a reasonable location. The word was later distributed to Turkey and that famous mountain. When the word was given for the Universe or what is known to mankind as a 'universe' to begin and 'there was light', what time values followed in the order of the creation and cosmos? Do the 'days' of Genesis represent time periods of uncertain extent in the form of literals as do algebraic literals represent variable numerical content? Progressive creationist investigations consider some of the Biblical meaning in the context of the indeterminacy of translation between mankind's scientific and philosophical weltanschauung of the era before Christ and today. Does Second Peter Chapter 3 exemplify the uncertainty? "8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." The ages of the antediluvian Patriarchs given this conversion value is 2,453,235,000 years.
In my recently released book ‘Creation and Cosmos; The literal Values of Genesis’ basic Biblical time references regarding the creation and pre-history are considered in the context of contemporary cosmology. Haven’t people of faith historically sometimes had a tendency to interpret Biblical references to the creation and cosmos within their own astrophysical paradigms commonly believed in the era? What are the literal values of Genesis in-themselves?
This book surveys in brief essays the relationship of ideas that readers on-the-world have and select cosmological terms of the Bible. Do the respective terms necessarily have the same meanings or values?Progressive creationism is a vast and worthwhile field of research, here represented by my several essays, a survey of ideas in the field, indexing of subjects that I have examined, web page urls for derivative topics, a suggested readings list, poems and a few astrophysical photos that proceeds along a course of interpretive existential epistemology associated with revealed scriptural information set by field pioneers such as Hugh Ross. The new superstring physics cosmological speculations of multiverse theory and the anthropic principle version 2005 are surveyed from an eschatological point of view along with additional points that reinforce the progressive creationist investigation paradigm.
