Is it possible that love is a religion in itself?

the parallels of love and other religionsVoted for by Themajikalpance.
Seeing as how love is a part of all of us, would it not make sense on some abstract level for it to be our creator? Perhaps love is a name that both encompasses all supreme beings and forms one supreme being as a whole. We worship and show our gratitude when we care for someone else and care for ourselves. There is no real controversy over love's existance...only the varying degrees. Suppression of love only causes it to grow. Love forgives all. It's possible to argue, "Well, love makes people commit crimes and kill people and brings out the worst in them, so it can't be a religion that takes you down the right path." Explain to me, then, how the "jihad" of 9/11, white supremacy, "ethnic cleansing," or extremism are going to take you down the right paths, even if you are doing it in the name of your [insert supreme being here]. You have to take the bad with the good. Intentions and manipulation can play a part in any situation, religious or otherwise, and it is impossible to find any religion where there are not misguided persons.

anything can be reallyVoted for by ohsweetie2788.
yes love could be our creator if you think of it that way. you could make anything its own religon really but i like love being a sort of god would make sense or at least a god of love like the greeks and romans had.

love being a religion makes no senseVoted for by Beena.
I think God sends His word in times of corruption, violence and war to reside inside our hearts and not to go reside in some Holy Book, Holy Place or Religion. The good word is sent to make the corrupt more humane. Therefore, love being a religion makes no sense at all.

Bad Question?Voted for by jotokai.
"Love" changes what we believe, what we do, and what we devote ourselves to. That's my definition of religion. Like religion, love can drive us to our highest good or to the depths of despair or even acts of vicious evil.
When we say "religion" we usually mean a set of teachings. So if the teachings are just a vessel for the knowingness that is at the heart of the religion, then yes, definitely: love is (just like) religion.

Love, religion, beliefs and ritualsVoted for by frndofyaweh.
To be religious; is to practice rituals regularly, for or to, someone or something, on the condition that, you believe it will aid others or yourself. _____-_____ If I listen to Rock music every day at 9:00pm faithfully. Doing it because, I believe it will protect me, make me a better listener, or any such thing; Rock music becomes my religion. _____-_____ For some; Love is already their religion. But which love? there is more than one kind of love.
