What's wrong with (n- word ending in "a)

Why isn't accepted as slang, or is it a good thing that it isn't?

  • Not Cool

I personally think that neither should be used, if you can’t use the one ending with er then why should you be able to use the one ending with an a, is there really a difference? They are the same word, just one is used in slang, they both mean the same thing to me. Either they are both derogatory, or they are both ok to use. . .

This is only my opion, feel free to disagree.

  • The N-word (when ended with "a") should be OK to say

Although the -er ending is without a doubt offensive, the -a ending should be accepted. It is to some extent acceptable by black people to black people, but it should be for white people too. When’s the last time a white person ever said n-a in a harsh way? Pretty close to never. If they mean it in a bad way, they’ll end it with -er.

  • POLITICAL CORRECTNESS SUCKS!

Too many people get caught up on what words mean, its not the words that matter its the hostitility and hurt they are trying to cause. the reason that black people dont find it offensive when called ‘nigga’ by someone also black is because theyre not trying to be offensive. is you call someone anything trying to be offensive its not suprising that they take offense

  • THAT'S CALLED RACISM

That N word has always been an offensive word directed to black people. That’s racism. Anyone who uses that word is a RACIST. We’re all equal no matter WHAT color. People need to get that through their brain that that is NOT okay to say!

  • Taking it to Far

Certain people will say “it” with the er ening. But I believe that if they say it, they are willing to get jumpes, saying nigga (srry if I offened anyone) shouldn’t be offensive. It is a term of indearment when used like that..other than that…jump ‘em.!

  • I could care less...

I’m half black so sometimes ppl think I might get offended by that word or…other things like that but I could care less…I think it’s time to put that crap behind us…And I think Black History Month is unfair…it just keeps a racial divide open. Either we chouls combine the history of the races or have like a white, mexican, japanese, etc. history month as well…

  • edify or crucify.......the choice is yours

Is it right or wrong to called someone a nigga, or nigger, or a honky, or cracker, or porch monkey or etc….??? Basically, if you feel the need to use these words or variations of them, knowing ahead of time of the potential that many will take offense to their use, then you are striving only to prove a point. In the English language there are so MANY choices that for someone to use one of these words on purpose is proof of their narrow minded views towards other’s feelings. the choice is yours: edify or crucify, but don’t crucify and then proclaim innocence. Just because you are naive does not mean the one you are speaking too is also.

Respectful of other’s feelings is the mark of good character. Plus, to gain a friend, first you must be willing to be a friend.

  • Society conditioning

What You were brought up to believe and feel, is what you are experiencing. Society conditions us to believe cussing is offensive or name calling. I have spent many years building up a resistance to it. I am a Christian, who believes cussing is NOT a sin, but also not necassary to get the point accross. I am a Christian who believes, you just walk right up and ask a fella what he prefers to be called. I am neither white nor black. I have never seen a black person before, or a white person for that matter. If My best friend says, “Wazz up, Punkboouy?!!” so what? it’s okay with me, because He is like a brother. If a complete stranger has a minor issue with me and says, “Whatz yer problem, AH*!!!” it’s okay with me, because he’s like a brother. You can recondition yourself, If you wish.

  • Weird.

A guy in my class used the N word ending with a today. I was offended, I suppose. I dunno, it bothers me. Hmm. In that class, we had to watch a Civil War movie, and they used the er ending that really physically hurt to hear. We have been reading books such as “Huckleberry Finn” and “The Sound and the Fury” in which that word is used freely, so Im getting used to reading it. I am white, and I go to a Christian school. I suppose you could say I am “sheltered,” but I am not un-informed in all aspects, or stupid.

to be honest I always questioned this myself… I mean, african american people, or humans of a dark skinned decent often claim racism from white people… but in reality if they set up boundries whereas people from white decent can’t even use the same words as them how do they expect everyone to be treated fairly. .... something to ponder

  • Hatefull = hatefull

Hatefull words are exactely that, hatefull, and should not be used. In addition, the use of the word nigger from black person to black person should be discouraged, it is basically useless, and is also degrading. Just an interesting note, how come (generally) African Americans stress race, while caucasians make little note of it? (generally)

  • Not necessarily "wrong"

I believe any person has every right to use any word he or she wishes to use. Speaking isn’t harmful…. it’s the speaking with an ill intent that hurts people. If you tell me that the color of my skin forbids me from using certain words then I’m going to call you racist. I have every right and every ability to use any word imaginable without intending it to hurt anybody’s feelings. The color of my skin doesn’t make the things I say more or less “wrong to say”. If you think it does, you’re wrong.

  • An African-American should not refer to another as “nigga” if they fought so hard to be called African-American and not black in the first place.

They should also not call Caucasian-Americans “crackas” if they do not wish for Caucasian-Americans to call them “niggas.”

  • OMG.. did u say SLANG!!!!????

Why would you want to use the word “ni99a” ? for what purpose? what does it mean to you? what is the meaning of it to you? I think that sometimes people are restricted and because of this restriction lash out. A kid, for example, may not have a taste for a popsicle but as soon as you get one, or tell him that he isnt allowed, he wants it more than anything. This popsicle could poisin him, kill him, or whatever.. he doesnt even know WHY he wants it, he just does. I think this is the same type of thinking associated with white people wanting to use this word.. why do you want to use it? NO it should not be accepted as slang.. HELL NO! This is a word taken from an offensive word and made to mean something else. It’s our own personal way of “identifying” with each other and is sacred in meaning only to blacks.. this was a way for us to turn the negative into a positive and now that is compromised! not to sound “racist” but damn.. can we have anything to our selves for our own purposes. It will not be accepted as slang and if it is there will be much blood shed across this country. I call you a “queer” in 2005 but now in 2030 “quiir” has been accepted by homosexuals as a way of identifying with each other.. now I want to call you “quiir” and expect you not to be offended.. thats crazy. If i heard a caucasian, Asia, or any other race refer to me or anything as “ni99a” I would be highly offended, its just not your place.. many caucasians assume that Eminem ,for example, has opened doors for white to say and do as they please.. Eminem is one of the best lyricist and he doesnt even use this.. when it was mentioned that he had referred to someone as “ni99a” he was bashed for such behavior and the same will happen if this word is accepted as slang.. SLANG???? OMG.. I cant even believe you said that.. “Wassup” is SLANG, “Holla” is SLANG… “ni99a” is NOT !!!!

  • no! shouldnt be said

as a black girl i think that word should not be used by any one blacks, whites,spanish...etc. this word was used in the slavery days to degenerate a black person and even now when you look in the dictionary (some) 1 definition is "stupid" when you use that word it is like you are trivialising the suffering that went on. sometimes when i hear my friends use it, it saddens me because its like do you understand the meanin behind it, also what if a person that is racist against us hears it, they are going to think "hmmm look at them stupid n**** my ancestors gave them that name and now they are using it on eachother", i said to one of my friends dont call me that and they looked at me like i was the crazy one, to me when we use that word on eachother its like we are still locked down in chains and this time it us our own people who put them on. personally i think this word needs to die out.

  • Thats a cute little nigglet

NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA!!!! What the hell is wrong with that word?? Afro's can call each other nigga and not feel insulted but yet they feel insulted when they say " a white person" calls them nigga. Im not racist or anything i have heaps of black mates and they dont give a flying F (word ending in k) that i call them afro or nigga or black. But the way i see it is that if they want to kick up a storm about us "whites" calling them niggers... they themselves are being racist for seperating whites from blacks with the use of a single word. Whats the difference between a white horse calling a black horse a horse and black horse calling another black horse a horse??? Same S (word ending with t)
