Say your unborn child has a mental disorder or spinal problems, or some sort of bad disease such as down-s. Would you still have the child? Or would you abort it? This can be taken from two views, one of a teenager who got pregnant.. and the father is a bastard so he leaves you pregnant, with a mentally retarded child.. are you really going to raise this child? Or will you put it up for adoption in hope of a loving family.. but a hard time in school? Or would you rather abort the baby and make sure they have no problems with society?
So, adotption, abortion, or keep? The problems: 1. You are a teen 2. The baby has a spinal/mental disorder

well i am no woman but a child with a disorder will be too much for a teen to handle. way too much. so i would say adopt. i dont know if you know any people with a mental disorder but a lot of them are the nicest and sweetest people you will ever meet. and who knows, maybe that person will change your life.
to me abortion is murder. have you ever seen the email with all the pictures of what happens to babies that are aborted? well if you havent, let me paint a picture.
when the fetus comes out, and yes it has to come out, it comes out in pieces. you will find fingers burned away and arms that have charred stubs for shoulders and hands. sometimes they come out with half the jaw missing or a leg, or even chunks of their torso.
if you can subject someone to a pain like that, which only ends in their death, go for it. but i know i cant.

Well, I can't take this from a teenage girl's perspective, but from a purely ethical point of view, I think that it is better to abort the baby. This is mainly because I measure the human condition on happiness (not life), and therefore think that the introduction of one who would probably be unhappy and a burden to others into the world would detract from the human condition.

Being a teenager, I know better than to make a stupid mistake like getting pregnant in the first place. BUT i am willing to share my thoughts on this. I am pro-choice to a point. An abortion is one thing if the fetus is at an early stage of pregnancy before it is a human being. [I am presenting my opinion from the standpoint that a mental/spinal disorder would not be dianosed until late in pregnancy.] I think an abortion would be too late in this case. I know full well that I still have way too much ahead of me and could never provide a proper home for a child, let alone a handicapped child. I would have to put the baby up for adoption.

Hun I feel for you...Voted for by Boudica.
Here are three choices I hope will help you. Choice one, find a family memeber (parent, grandparent, aunt uncle etc...) to help you raise or even adopt this baby. To help you finish school. Also to be there for you when you need all the support you can get. If you can find this and its what you want, then do it and good luck. Choice two, contact an adoption agency and see if they can find a family who will adopt this child, even let you be invovled in its life is possible, such as open adoption. If you can find it, and you want this, do it. Choice three, abortion. Your still a young woman. If you feel you can't handle this, then I would choose abortion. If you can't get the support you need you may not be able to give your child a good life. And if the child is extremely diabled it may not have much of one any way. I'm not saying that handicap people should aborted, but if the parents can't handle any child, disabled or not, spare the child an unhappy life let it know peace. Those are your choices. Either one is very hard. There are hotlines you can call. Try plan parenting. They will give you all your options, not guilt you into anythign you don't want. Either way good luck!

What you are discribing is partal birth...
Partal birth abortion are now illegal in the USA unless the fetus will kill the mother or if its born several defective. A fetus with a spinal disease may not feel anything. The doctor is suppose to put the fetus uncontious onces the fetus has developed at a certain point. Oh and something else I want to mention to you, DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY DISABLED CHILDREN ARE NEVER ADOPTED!!!! Its hard enough for children with minor disablities or emotional problems to find a placement, ie a foster home, its even worse if the child has a spinal problem. I met a couple who did something truely remarkable, they adopted 17 several disabled children. The couple are now in the 70s and their youngest is now in his 20s. They are an acception, but even when they decided to stop adopting, (17 is a lot of children) they were still given offer to take several disabled kids. There is a high need for people to adopt theses kids. But few people do! I would suggest an abortion. Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
