I don't think so.23% Voted for by drkbrdmstr, -TheLoneWolf-, I-Cry-Silent-Tears, ytyt, forbiddenforgotten. (6 total)
I personally think that whoever thinks world peace is possible overestimates mankind.World peace may only be possible if there weren't enough people for war or if there was nothing to gain because every1 had the exact amount of wealth and if you didn't, you'd be forced to. (Extreme Communism)

It is Very impossible to have world peace. People spend their lives trying to acheive it. They spend their breath talking about it, but the truth is it will never happen. People conflict with each other too much. I mean just look at the war in the middle east and every other conflict. It wasn't just conflicting sides, but rather conflicting thoughts and opinions. It will never be peaceful on this earth. Never has never will be.

World Peace7% Voted for by blood is like wine, Darkimagination.
I think if we achieved world peace than we would lose freewill, you can't have both. Everyone is an individual and with six billion people on the globe the chances of them all agreeing with one another is extremely unlikely unless they were forced to forfit their freewill, in which case we would have achieved peace but lost freedom. Also there are a lot of evil people in the world and with them in it peace is impossible. A person can achieve peace and live in his/her own peaceful mansion, but he/she cannot inflict his idea of peace onto others.

War Keeps Peace7% Voted for by blood is like wine, Dragon Wrath.
The reason that we do not have world peace is not that people do not agree, but that some people want to take advantage of others. If you look at most wars and crimes, someone was trying to give themselves a leg up over other people. Babalon, Rome, Crusades, Revolutionary War, Nepoleon, Civil War, WWI, WWI, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq War I, Iraq War II... shall I go on? AND THIS IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE! People are always going to help themselves, even if it hurts others. The only way for there to be world peace is if a superpower, like Rome or America, declares that there will be peace, or there will be consequences.

If we could change one word?7% Voted for by drmvalley2003, Lou Montagne.
If the world could change the word ONE to WE maybe. The power is in WE not one.One religion, One kind of race,One is better, One is wrong. (One)
If we said: WE live in one world, WE are one Nation, WE are one race first, all of us no matter how you look at it - WE are one, called the HUMAN RACE and WE all live in our (WE) world. WE as humans together are power, WE as ONE not much happens around this world. See what I am saying here. WE the people of this WE world there wouldn't be war or hungey. The WE's of all color, all race's, all faiths would be the same under the we are human first race. But someone told us or tought us One is better then WE and we are divided into hate for the ONE. So peace on earth: not in my life time or yours. This is the sign of the times,it is our calling. It is up to you how to look at this world because ONE cannot do anything about it. BUT if the WE's took a stand someone will listen. To stand in WE first is to love all things all people. Then WE are, white, black, Indian, ect: If you have never heard Yanni find his videio from the TAJ Mahal find the song Love is all listen to him - hear what he is saying. I have fought this way all my life, to foregive and to love. I can't do it alone, no one can.

Not possibleVoted for by invader.
I think that it is not necessary for people to have one belief or the same opinion to achieve world peace. All it takes is respect for the opinions and beliefs of others. However, I still think that we cannot achieve world peace because people do not respect each other. Like if we hear a comment that conflicts with our own, most people would say "boo" to it and would immediately disagree without really understanding. People are close-minded that's why we cannot have world peace

Peace; unavoidably so.Voted for by Lou Montagne.
Peace as opposed to war, I gather?
I believe that if there is a future for mankind, 'worldpeace' is unavoidable.
Future: the ongoing development of the human mind and our quest for knowlegde and understanding.
Peace as I take it in this context is not bliss, nor is it some personal state of mind; peace is an other word for agreement on common grounds. Common: all that we share.
Proposition: We all share the same material world, but we don't all share the same idea about it, not yet...
It is idea's about ourselves and the nature of reality that are warring each other. We are in the grip of these ideas, and can but follow there drift in order to prove there value in the real world. Following this apocaliptic view we may conclude that we will war until the last one (idea) standing; for there can only be one (idea) just right. So take up the sword of reason, and share under the banner that reads: 'Peace through War' and fight for your humanity.
To round of my poetic notions on war and peace:
My name is Reason, I am number one. Who will challenge my clame to the world? More than that I clame the right to the universe and the knowlegde of the gods. I am more than willing to prove my right against any of all gods, demons and ideas about the nature of reality and the purpose of being, and prove them wrong, for I am the demon master and without me there be nothing to know.

Temporary World PeaceVoted for by Poetic Variable.
You could have world peace, if there was some mass loss of life, on an apocolyptic scale. You would have to eliminate everyone except a single group of people that share nearly identical beliefs, and even then it would be a temporary peace.

A Nice DreamVoted for by Rain86.
I think that if it were possible to have world peace then every person in the world would have to have the same opinion on things, the same views on philosophy and all other subjects. Maybe it will be possible sometime in the future without everyone losing their identities for it....and it is a nice dream - but also very unlikely.

I think world peace can be achieved, but only if we are honest to ourselves and don't focus on exploiting another.

Highly UnlikelyVoted for by wandering poetess.
"If you find me a place where peace exist, I will give you world peace. Find me a country that has no bad and I will give you world peace." that is a saying of mine. The truth is in rder to attain world peace you first have to attain total peace in one place or one country. As long as there is bad in the world, peace can never be acieved. But maybe if you find one place to be the example, then you can inspire more to take action towards your goal. Even though I know the truth though I still don't give up hope in a better peace filled world.

As long as people populat this earth, and some animal wants what some other animal has, there wont be peace...unless of course you take every one and loke them in a room all by there lonesome.

would peace begins when the whole world is a black hole. It is human nature for some to fight. It is in our blood for thousands of years and nothing we can't do today can erase that. Nothing. so
hug the world today because this is the world your going to live in for the rest of your life -

It is very possibleVoted for by Mhswr45.
World peace and a total global peace can be accomplished. But there is only one way that this can be accomplished. Only throgh a total and global anarchy. Because only through the most henous act of vilolence ever thought up by man, through anarchy we would find ourself fending for ourselfs, survial of the fitest if you will, this act alone would pit all country's against each other and would pit all human beings against one another. Which in turn would cause a nuclear war and in turn the genocide of the human race, along with every other life form. Including every stitch of grass to the very last fish in the sea. All animals would have to be killed all the way to the last one, because if two survived they would be pit against each other in order to survive. War is just in the nature of man, the killed or be killed theory apply's here. If it down to animal there, they may enter into some kind of state of self conflict, thus disrupting the entire peace of the planet, just in the same way all plants would have to die, because once again plants follow the killed or be killed theory, so in order to have world peace, the world would have to a vast waste land of dirt, but i could argue the fact at a sub-atomic level, the borrowing and stealing of electrons. But without atoms our exsitance would not be. so i guess no that a wrote all this out no we cannot accomplish world peace, War is in man's nature, its found through out the animal kingdom everywhere. We thirst and fiegn off other peoples pain's and agonys there are many examples. Once again it's the killed or be killed theory applys here.
