God is either real or imaginary, your belief does not make Him exist or not exist. One day we will either know or cease to know. Belief involves faith. Empirical knowledge is the only way to know the world.
All people should be treated as such. There are actions which are moral and immoral, but each depend on the circumstances surrounding their actions. Context matters. Sin does not exist in my view. To me, all acts are the outcomes of past experience and inborn dispositions.
No one is perfect. Everyone deserves love. Respect all religions because each person believes in theirs as strongly as you do in yours. Otherwise we'd all believe the same.
I have problems with Paternalistic government forms. The government should not be able to tell others what they can and can't do regarding their own bodies. These things are personal decisions.
Believe but know it is not as solid as the ground beneath your feet.

Respect all religions because each person believes in theirs as strongly as you do in yours -------------------------------- That is never going to happen. If you truly believe your religion to be totally correct then since they greatly influence our outlook on life then you may respect others but most likely will not respect other religions. because each person believes in theirs as strongly as you do in yours ------------------------------------ Usually when one person is standing on a hill advocating at the top of his voice the exact opposite of what you are voicing on your hill then more than likely you will receive the opposite of respect. The government should not be able to tell others what they can and can't do regarding their own bodies ------------------------------------- If you wanted to be a suicide bomber with your own body it may be your personal decision but you will personally make others loose their lives in the process. Sorry, sounds good on paper but not realistic. Believe but know it is not as solid as the ground beneath your feet. -------------------------------- Very nicely said. Now, just apply it to your own words.September 16, 2005

\That is never going to happen. If you truly believe your religion to be totally correct then since they greatly influence our outlook on life then you may respect others but most likely will not respect other religions\ Not true. It may be in your case because obviously you can't look at things from both sides. However, you must realize it is always possible that you are wrong or that no one is wrong, that each religion is "a bliss of its own kind'. You don't have to believe in it in order to respect it. I respect many views I don't agree with. I am Agnostic but I have no problem with Christians, Muslims, etc. It's so sad to see people who are close minded. If you truly believe in what you believe in then how could you be threatened by another person's belief system? \Usually when one person is standing on a hill advocating at the top of his voice the exact opposite of what you are voicing on your hill then more than likely you will receive the opposite of respect.\ This isn't about people yelling on hills. This is about the fact that each culture and each sub culture, each family, each individual is different in many ways, including their beliefs. Not everyone can or will agree. It's inevitable. Why not realize they have just as much right to their opinion as you do yours? \If you wanted to be a suicide bomber with your own body it may be your personal decision but you will personally make others loose their lives in the process. Sorry, sounds good on paper but not realistic.\ Where did I advocate suicide bombing? Don't put words into my mouth just because your imagination is running amok. I am talking about those things which affect a person individually. If I don't want to wear my seat belt, the government has no place telling me to. The government should not be like our father (which is what paternlistic means). If it affects others, then it is no longer a personal decision. By the way, "loose', used in the context your wrote it in, should be "lose". \Very nicely said. Now, just apply it to your own words.\ I am advocating knowing things on an empirical level, and believing in things which can't be known that way. Where did I say these things were empirical knowledge? Why are you so argumentive anyway?October 17, 2005

I disagree in a sense. I agree with your "who gives a damn" theory but I have to say that my beliefs lean towards atheism. However, I do believe we are put on this earth to make each other happy which therefore makes ourselves happy, but i do not believe the spewing rhetoric that comes out of preachers mouthes about god and the bible. Honestly I believe it is all wide scale propaganda. You do not need a savior to be a good person nor do you need an anti-christ to be evil or bad. It is our choices which create our personalities and our decisions affect how others think about us and how we think of ourselves. There is no pergatory no heaven or hell, no savior or reviver. There is only a sad and useless fairy tale in which we associate with the belief.... or wish of freedom from our sins. I don't care how nice you are everyone has a darkside or an unforgivable secret that only they know about themselves. We all must peer into the darkness in order to finally see the light. the invention of an entity to dispel your darkest , deepest secrets to is a way to vanquish that secret for good into the mind of another who may or may not be listening. Now for all the people who are extremely religious and look upon my response in disgust i have only one thing to say do we really need a god to spread happiness and peace to the world??? Think about it what really has god accomplished other than spilling the blood of the innocent over lands fought over for nothing more than a difference of opinion. The truth is has god done more harm then good? If you can answer me that, I mean really answer that question and prove me wrong then i will be impressed. Please register or login to comment!
