Hubble Space Telescope (HST) can see in several different spectrums, including X-Rays, and uses much of the concerning information to study the complexities of black holes, extra-solar planets, and quasars (objects believed to be at the edge of our Universe). Give us a while, and well see so far God’ll have to put on a towel when he gets out of the shower.

  • Chance of aliens means we have to look

Even though we haven’t seen anything yet – finding aliens would be a very big deal and we want to be prepared if there’s a giant fleet of starships heading our way, etc.

  • poorly researched

these are not just pretty pictures. hands up, all the world governments who want to get together and spend billions of pounds launching a satellite to go and take 'pretty pictures'. umm... no hands. well lucky me, i managed to go see a lecture on hubble the other week. i think it's possible you might be impressed if you saw what they have discovered from hubble... the clarity of the pictures hubble produces is vastly superiour to any that can be taken from earth, no matter how much larger earth based telescopes may be. this allows much closer zooming and studying of the stuff out there... i'm not even gonna start on about what they've discovered using hubble's pictures. i could go on forever. an someone who actually knew about it, a real scientist for instance, could on for a whole lot longer... but it's deepened our understanding of the universe we exist in, considerably. i think that's worth it. so maybe not just pretty pictures.
