Listen, I don't believe in this war that doesn't mean I don't believe in our soldeirs, andI know alot of others who also feel that way so calm down and don't take the offensive. My Best friends brother is in Iraq, and she doesn't believe in the war so how do you think that she feels? Kate :D -
Different, you are correct. These people on here who think this war is about oil or greed or power are so sorely mistaken it just really isn't funny. A lot of it does have to do with the corrupted media out there, especially CBS and The New York Times. They lie and tell half truths and leave out whatever they disagree with. If you want some truth on the war, watch FOXNEWS like O'Reilly and Hannity and Colmes, mainly just Hannity. A lot of people are misinformed and it is just sickening and extremely sad.
-

That's my channel :)
-
Um... Fox News? .... waiting for the punchline
-
Then could you tell use why we're in Iraq? Because I'm still waiting for an answer.
-
Get out of the country more often. Its you thats tricked and misinformed by the media. Let me guess.. Ohio?
-
-
Thank you for that... as a military brat and former Marine I know that freedom isn't free and if the liberals that scream "bring our troops home, This war is wrong!!!" would just get educated and find out what this war is about they would see this effort in a whole different light. Or not if they are so brain washed by the left wing media.
-
-
Wow, you use that stupid "freedom isnt free" quote and accuse others of being brain washed. Good job.
-
Perhaps you should become educated and find out what this war is truly about. Iraq posed as no threat to us. They didn't posess chemicals of mass destruction, and they didn't attack us. We should be sending our troops out to find Osama Bin Laden, the actual terrorist, instead of taking over a country so that we could get some oil. If we were truly fighting this war for the people, there are dozens of other countries around the globe that have worse dictators than Saddam, that actually have access to weapons of mass destruction.
-
-
"freedom isnt free" What a stupid brainwashing tool
"freedom isnt free" is as bad as the American dream! The Stupid delusion that anyone is the U.S.A can become the president, not some son of a millionaire taking up his daddy's old job! So you think u are keeping your freedom by attacking Iraq, how exactly!? -
WOW!!!! Metal, you are in serious need of an education. Ofcourse we are keeping our freedom by attacking Iraq, you think they aren't affiliated with the terrorists? You think they wouldn't try and kill Americans if they had half a chance? And yes, freedom isn't free. I dare you to go say that's a brainwashing tool infront of a group of veterans that fought and watched their buddies die just to hear you exercise your freedom by condemning their sacrifice. You need to smarten up and see these damn terrorists for what they are and PUT the blame where it is due and stop saying how bad America because there is no place like this country. One last thing, if you hate this country so damn much, then why don't you leave? Thin the herd a bit?!?!?!
-
Um, our media is actually filled with propoganda supporting the war.
-
Crimson, go back to sleep.
-
-
Oh what a great reply. That sure took a lot of philosiphical thought.
-
-
so sad
first of all, a shitload of confusion is just because of the messed up media we have. fox ESPECIALLY. go see the movie "outfoxed" it opened my eyes. second of all, the iraq war isnt about terrorists. it's about oil and imposing influence where its not wanted. the people fighting back, the "insurgents", are just local people defending their towns from american invasion. it's sickening. and if you think that attacking another country can be rationalized by saying it's "keeping our freedom" you are delusional. are they threatening our freedom? no. if anyone is, it is our own government. and blame is the last thing the world needs right now so it shouldnt be put ANYWHERE. actually... ill tell you where you can put that blame but thats not the point right now.... -
It's always the misguided, antiAmericans who run around calling everyone disillusioned because they think that documentaries made by Michael Moore are fact. The Iraq war is about oil, gosh I've never heard that one before. So you're trying to say that Sadam was a nice little man who loved his people and wished well on America, how dare we go in there and impose our will. Those poor "freedom fighters", their just protects their town. I CAN"T BELIEVE PEOPLE THINK LIKE THIS!!!!! All I have to say is leave this country if you hate it so much. Why don't you really open your eyes, you are just a disgrace, I'm done talking to you.
-
-
I don't believe she said anything about seeing Michael Moore film, but I suppose it's easier to blame it on that than the truth. I agree with you, Saddam was definitely not a innocent or moral person, and since we put the bastard in power, we should be able to take him out. But we're not doing it for the good of the people. If we were, why didn't we help the other countries with even worse dictators than Saddam? Because they didn't have the second biggest oil reserves in the world. We are "fighting for the good of the people" only because of the benefits we receive in doing so. It is a selfish action. I don't hate the country, I dislike the government at this point in time.
-
-
You obviously have no historical perspective Metal
You obviously have no historical perspective Metal if you don't believe freedom isn't free. Look at ALL historical revolutions (including but not limited to the French, Haitian and American), BOTH world wars (how do you think France is free today Sir? Did they invite Hitler and Rommel to tea over peace negotiations and politely ask the nazis to leave?), this trend even goes as far back as the Peloponessian war (how do you think Sparta and the other Greek states attempted to keep their freedom when Carthage attacked?). Keeping and obtaining freedom always comes at a price. Whether that price is lives or tax dollars (why do you think we have spent tax money on nuclear weapons Sir? I refer you to the Eisenhower plan), is irrevelant. -
Seriously, Sparta?
If you look at all (successful) revolutions, throughout history, the change has occured from inside, from the people who have gained power and surged up against their emancipators. With the exception of World War 2 this has been pretty standard practice since the dawn of man... with one ruling body being usurped by the weight of public pressure. World War 2 was the recent exception because Nazi Germany actually threatened other nations which made them enter into a war to protect themselves from an outside aggressor, as well as some rumours (at the time) of Jewish communities being discriminated. But we have to remember WW2 was NOT ACTUALLY A REVOLUTION, the revolution/change of government that came about was as a result of having to replace a defeated regime. After the war, American governments got a taste for victory and saw this as a purely political tool. The fear created by threats of violence/war means that people are stunned, immobile and afraid of change and thus are more suseptible to being swayed into voting them in for that all important, second term in office. Now I said that all 'successful' revolutions come from the people. This is true. All unsuccessful revolutions come from foreign governments thinking, they know whats best for the countries that are inferior in development and success to their own. Foreign governments are, on the whole, not really concerned with change for some altruistic desire to make the whole world a better place but instead for what benefits this war may bring to their own countries. The war in Iraq is wrong because it tried to instill an alternative form of gorvernment for a political means, be that oil or fear, the outcome is exactly the same "We tried but we failed, but well, at least we tried." After Bush's governmental time is up, who takes actual responsibility for the havoc caused? After Bush's governmental time is up, who actually cares about the havoc caused? Everyone will be so pleased that it is all over and that our armies have withdrawn from a hostile country that he wins, we win and the next government consequently wins (because it is them who are going to withdraw the troops). The only people who actually loose are the people who have died, but then, they're dead and so they are remembered as heroes (and rightly so) so in effect they win too. The people of Iraq will go back to a state of turmoil, which they have been in for centuries and we will say, "Well at least we tried" forgetting that the only reason we went there was not to 'try' to win a war in Iraq, but to actually win it. Unless of course, that wasn't the intention! (i.e. the intention was simply as a result of a political battle in a country completely foreign to their own.) -
A nice man called Saddam.
So Saddam is the biggest enemy the world has ever known. He kills billions of people a day for his primitive desire to see the blood of his people run through the gutters. I propose that Saddam was no different to any government in power today. Ok, the only bargining tool he had available was through the weapons that America sold him but in a country where weapons are even more of a way of life than in America, it seems pretty plausible that he was going to use them for his own political ends. But then, isn't violence just a tool by which we achieve the political tool fear? Hmm... America have got fear down to a fine art, we don't need violence, just some clever political spin... both have the same effect. Is Saddam any worse than other leaders in the world? Probably not. British citizens were physically thrown out of Zimbabwe by President Mugabe, they cared not... but oh, some guy is killing some of his own people... let's blow them to hell. It seems slightly one sided. Especially if you note that the worst atrocities in the world are actually being caused in countries like North Korea and in independant states in Africa like Sudan where for the last six months over 1000 people a day are being killed. But thats different, they have no oi............., ooh, I so nearly said it. Interesting how we always come back to the same conclusions, is that their ignorance or ours? -
Metal, I'm new here, and you of course don't know me, and I know that you made that comment a long time ago, but I saw your comment, and it really disturbed me. Thank God there aren't more people like you. You may not hate this country, but when you say things like that, it undermines the very fabric with which this country was founded. Everyone in the country can become president if they have the determination, the resolve, and the desire to become president. We are keeping our freedom by attacking Iraq because we are showing the world who we are. America is the last hope for freedom such as the freedom we have anywhere on Earth. We didn't become free by just sitting still and not moving. And if you don't exercise your freedoms, are you really free? We are exercising our freedoms, and that is how we are keeping our freedom. It is stated right there in our founding document, the Declaration of Independence: "...But when one body of government, brings its subjects to such a level that they are in a state of absolute despotism, it is our right, it is our duty, to throw off such government, and provide new guards for their future security..." -The Declaration of Independence, July 4th, 1776 Right there, in plain ink, it tells us that those who have the abilty to stop oppressive government have the responsibility to stop oppressive government. Not only does it tell us to stop oppressive government, but it also tells us to provide a new form of government, one that will make the rights of its subjects more secure. In doing this, we protect our own freedom. "...it is our right, it is our duty, to throw off such government..." It is our right.... And this country and everyone in it, whether we like it or not, have a responsibility to halp make the world more free. That, Metal, is how we keep our freedom.

Bush is retarded. I think he had to pass a stupid test to become the president. KEEPING OUR MEN OUT THERE AND JUST LETTING 2-10 people DIE every DAY! Why?! These people aren’t going to get a steady government with HELP! We didn’t have help on getting OUR government up and running. It is the most retarded thing to do, keeping his own men out there to die, making people all over the country suffer a loss each and ever single day just because Bush thinks it’s right. If I were Bush, I would get those people out as soon as I woke up tomorrow morning. MY idea would be get our men out and NUKE ‘EM!

....wow. Let me ask an honest question, did you even look at what you were typing? Allow me to order the two main problems here: 1. Leaving Iraq now would be even worse than starting the whole thing. We've just torn out this country's government and there are still plenty of people there able to become the new Sadam. If we leave, then we're just invaders. 2. 'Nuke 'em', huh? Hm, interesting. Oh wait, you seem to forget the fact that America DOESN'T want to be pulled into a world war. If we nuke some third-world country just because we _think_ they might have had something to do with 9/11, then we're going to have every other powerful country in the world pointing its weapons at us.

I think that the war is good, I mean there were and still are terrible things going on there, and horrible governments/leaders. But the way we are going about it is completely wrong, we are only destroying their land and their people even more, and not helping them. We’re giving them more reasons to not like Americans. Our heart is in the right place, we’re just not using our power very well.

it is an insult to our men and women in uniform to cheapen their sacrifices and undermine our President’s authority to say that the only reason we’re in this war is for oil, etc. yes, bush has made some mistakes, but he made them with the country’s best intentions at heart. we need to remember that he is the leader of our country and whether or not we agree with his morals/opinions/etc, we still owe him the alleigence and respect that that office commands.

Uh.... You are wrong. The only reason we are at war was to find WMD's, right? Now that there are none, are we not done? Whose authority our we undermining, and who are we tainting when we say this war was waged on false pretenses? How are we undermining the presidents authority? "we need to remember that he is the leader of our country and whether or not we agree with his morals/opinions/etc, we still owe him the alleigence and respect that that office commands." We do not owe him respect. And we owe the USA allegiance, not GWB. There is a difference. PEace out. 1472.

says nothing about the soldiers
They do what they are told. Just because someone might disagree with us being over there, we realize it isn't their fault. Politically, Bush is supposed to do what his people wants (in a republic). So we need to be vocal so that he knows what that is :) -
Our country was not founded to put a man in power that the people must blindly follow. George Bush made some mistakes? How about this... "Well, we were just assuming that ole' Saddam might still have some o' them WMD's that we gave them a while back. We weren't totally sure, but I thought an assumption was just as good. We also thought that maybe Saddam might have had something to do with 9/11, well, apparently that was a mistake, but whatever. I'm only human right? I'm allowed to make mistakes. It's a shame over a thousand Americans have died over it, it's a shame thousands of Iraqi civillians died over it. Shoowee..."
-
Let me also add that we have the bill of rights for a reason, to protect our right to realize that our president is lying to us and do something about it. It's a shame nobody will do anything about it. Just because he was elected to office doesn't mean I have to support him. Are we supposed to sit back and listen to his lies and think to ourselves, "hmm, well that's a shame. Oh well, God bless the USA." NO! We should raise hell!
-
some of the worlds worst decisions were made with the best intentions at heart. that doesnt make them any better, does it? and only stupidity would allow allegiance or respect just because he happens to be the president.
-
Consider this my viewpoint,Sarah:
Listen, all of you: I am a veteran of this present war. I concur with Sarah that we must consider the struggle and sacrifice of our soldiers, marines, sailors, -- and our intelligence agents, civilian contractors, and the struggle of Iraqis of a variety of religions, ethnic groups, and social strata. Kurds, Shia, and some Sunni are joined in a struggle to determine the future of Iraq. Don't forget anyone's role, not even the role of the anti-war activists. When I was overseas fighting, I took satisfaction and relieft that our moral conscience was not dead. There was healthy dissidence. I was glad I was fighting for a democratic republic, and not a fascistic state or dictatorship. For all the bad things people say about George W. Bush and the Republicans and hawks who support him, he has been very tolerant of the opposition. I would hope that his opponents keep this in mind, in the long run. I am hoping to engage Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, Greens, and other Americans in a peaceful and constructive dialogue which will help us find a way out of this mess. I hope that we don't hurt ourselves with mutual antagonisms and rivalries. If we open our minds and hearts, and listen to each other, we may find a way for us all. You and I may not see it now, but "in G-d we trust." I don't have a simple answer for the Iraqi war. However, please consider, how are we to find a practical exit plan? Let us try to offer suggestions, not only objections. How do we solve this problem? We must do it together. [I add this link to MSNBC and the news of protest this weekend: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/]

I hated kerry and his undecisivism, his ideas just weren’t backed up at all. I guess guilty of making war about politics, and that’s all it ever is right?? I say no because we had no right to attack the country and scare the innocent Iraqi people. We should have got support and gave them more time. It should have been thought out, so as to stop the draft that will happen.
But Saddam was a threat and the terrorists are capable of hurting millions even billions. The more time we gave them the stronger they became. What Saddam did to the people in Iraq was tragic and inhumane, in every way. He stole their money, killed and raped the people of Iraq and possibly worst of all toke their freedom. Alright, lets think everybody, we were hit by those darn islamic terrorists on 9/11/2001. We beat the hoolie out of the taliban in aghan… yes, its unfortunate we didnt get bin laden. But think of it this way: Bin Laden was just a inspirational leader to their evil cause. Meaning, all his supporters wont stop just cuz hes dead or captured. Note the fury of the SUICUIDAL BOMBERS. Note the word SUICUIDAL. Now this leads us to Iraq. Saddam Hussein was a bad guy. He killed many people. He tortured many people. He thought Hitler and Stalin were his gods. He wanted to rule the world (well maybe) He DID want nukes. ( Remember Israel’s bombing)
We came over to Iraq to simply finish the job that Bush Sr. started. We booted Saddam out We tried and still trying to help Iraq to create a new government like the rest of the world.
Those darn terrorists like stinking Al Sadr and Zarqwaii (sp?) are trying to stop us from helping the Iraqis create a new government.

Okay, a little lesson in global economics: 98% of the oil that the United States imports comes from member nations of OPEC. Iraq is a major member of OPEC. As is Kuwait. When Iraq invaded Kuwait, it threatened our economy because Kuwait holds some of the world's richest oil fields, and if Iraq possessed them, Saddam Hussein could name his price, or cut us off entirely, and America would have no choice but to either give in to his demands or drill domestically. The oilfields in the American Southwest are drying out. This leaves the world's second-largest coal and oil deposit, under the Ozarks, or another deposit under Alaska. Both are unfeasable for the same reasons: the cost of relocating up to hundreds of thousands of families, in addition to the environmental effects, and the special-interest groups who would withdraw their support from any candidate who supported such a proposition. America cannot afford to bargain with a dictator like Hussein, who would obviously end up attacking us anyway, so we attack to prevent the loss of Kuwait. Fine. Saved our collective asses, along with everyone else in the UN, NATO, and all the other bigwigs. Now, however, we are given the opportunity to make Iraq essentially an American asset, with a US-sponsored government, who would owe Georgie some awfully big favors. The oil companies see this as an opportunity to grab a nice, fat slice of the pie, and go to the president, with whom they are nice and cozy, since he started out in the oil biz in the first place. The UN steps in and says "No, let's be reasonable and wait until we know for sure what's going on over there." So Mr. Bush gives them the finger and sends myself and my buddies to die, so his friends will be happy, and make sure he stays taken care of well into his senile years. I wouldn't even be surprised if one of his daughters one day gets a wild hare to go into politics, with some of these same people as campaign sponsors. It's a sick, symbiotic relationship that has existed for as long as anyone can remember. Here's a little homework assignment: Google the phrase "Teapot Dome Scandal" and see what you get.

Iraq war has not only created a wide-spread unemployment and joblessness in USA. Also, many soldiers were killed only and only to quench the lust of a dog i.e.bush who has great lust for power, pelf and possession. Moreover, the ruthless atrocities and cruelties exercised on the poor Iraqies by the filthy whore i.e. lundi england and her paramours is really a shameful act which has caused the immense degradation of the americans.!!! Iraq was never our problem! Sure, we could help them poverty wise, but doesn't Bush have enough trouble protecting his own country that he abandons us (which I remind you is SO much bigger than Iraq) for the Iraqis? We shouldn't be killing our soldiers for nothing. The people over there were dying a lot less than they are now. We were freed A LONG time ago. You talk as if Bush is the one who is the dictator! The funny thing is, Bush cant just make decisions by himself. We arent dealing with just one man here, these are decisions that our ENTIRE GOVERNMENT made. This includes conservatives as well as liberals. And, if Saddam was supposed to execute any terrorists, why were they operating under his safety? http://www.rightwingnews.com/special/xyz.php
this proves that some of the most wanted terrorists in the world operated in saddam's government!
Now tell me again that saddam was working for bush?
