Everyone who is against war...

For everyone who is against war, and believes it's all the military man's fault because he is just a soldier doing his job protecting you so you can badmouth him.

The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep... Though I worked a lot of overtime, When the bills got just too steep. and I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly,

>For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, you soldier, You've borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in Hell." ~Author Unknown~

It's the Military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the

press. It's the Military, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag....

  • OH GOD...

I don't understand how people can catch this frenzy so quickly without thinking for a second. Someone suggests that people anti-war don't support the troops and everyone goes "WHAT?!?! LETS GET EM!".

I don't support the war, and one of my primary reasons is FOR the troops.

  • Political Bullshit
The way I see it,the military is fully deserving of our respects. Sure some may be in it just for the killing, but no human is perfect.Instead of blaming the people who volunteer to protect our country, why not blame the one's who sent them across seas? It's not like the troops had any choice if they went over there or not. I say we hand a gun and helmet to all the politicians and ship them to the frontlines. If they want war, they can fight it themselves...They might actually be useful for once..

  • Oh yeah...

Oh yeah, And its the soldier who keeps the war going in the first place.

Make no mistake, a soldier is a person who wants to murder, but just needs a government's permission first. I would have more respect for soldiers if we weren't fifty years past the time that a soldier "defended" anyone. Maybe if the last dozen wars we fought weren't overseas against petty third-world rebels.

Maybe if every soldier I've ever met wasn't an arrogant, egotistical asshole who thought that, by volunteering for an unnecessary job because he spent too much time beating kids up and snorting drugs in high school to learn jack shit, that this made him somehow better than everybody else because he got to stick a gun in someone's face and call himself "America's savior" I would respect him.

You think a pacifist betrays soldiers? Well then, why don't all the soldiers in the world drop their guns and we'll see what happens.

  • My opinion

I do not believe that what you say is true. Soldiers, although they may just be doing their job, still contribute to an effort of violence. I am not scoffing in the militiary's face, I had an uncle who was in vietnam, But what I am saying is that freedom can be acheived without violence.

A prime example of this is Gandhi's contributions to India, and Martin Luther King's contributions to the civil rights movement.

I believe that with more peaceful efforts, the world would be better off.

  • Against War, For Killing
The truth of the matter is that we need people to kill, to defend, to keep a higher structure in existence. Who's going to do it? I don't want to kill. Somebody has to do it. Might as well glorify killing so that a few can get sucked up into that dream. That dreamer is a soldier. And thank God, we have soldiers that will go into battle without knowing whether their advance is for good or evil. Remember, Nazi were soldiers too who loved their country, their wives and children and their commander-in-chief. Nazi soldiers opened up the valves so that thousands of Jews could take their last 'shower'. Remember, soldiers do what a soldier does, and that is take orders. They can be taking orders from George Washington or George Bush-- killing is right depending on the god that is directing them to do it.

America is free because millions of brave men have sacrificed their lives so that we can live the lifestyle that we do. Their is great honor in being a soldier. I salute them with the greatest respect. But beware of who is commanding the orders of war.

Killing is necessary. War is the reason to kill. Better hope that reason is High and Good.

  • Baloney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only purpose for a military should be DEFENSE of the integrity of a sovereign state! None of this pre-emptive attack crap. America has made an Army and Military Action (which should be regarded as a FINAL means to a conflict)into A CAREER. This is an undeniable truth - if you've ever spoken to any recruiter you know this. LIKEWISE, if you've ever spoken to a veteran that has TRULY fought for the defense of a nation (for example a Russian veteran of WW2) you'd know that they CONDEMN war and everything about it - they simply did what was NECESSARY and they did it willingly. If you are submitting yourself to the disposal of an irresponsible government or regime, then you yourself are agreeing to carry out irresponsible action - which is senseless and unintelligent. If we are in DIRE STRAITS and our people are needed for TRUE defense of the nation, there will not be a uptsanding man out there that will not find cause to volunteer or submit to a draft! There is NO honor and no excuse to becoming a killer puppet of a ill-conceived foreign policy or military regime. And please, save me all your lame "your liberty is due to the many that died in service bla bla bla" - This is a partial truth. My liberty and freedom is due by the framers of the constitution and the military forces that helped create and protected it. The US Army hasn't played a role in that for a LOOOOOONG time so get it straight.
