I will just say this about the whole thing. I find it interesting that humans are the only animal that tend to curb the reproductive act. Every other species mate as soon as they are physically ready to reproduce. We and we alone have attached the act of copulation to the "emotional" aspect. Perhaps because we are the only species able to.

Teens have sex because they can. Its the most pleasurable thing god gave to us. So teens practice sex most of the time not knowing that its full of responsiblility. Another reason they are addicted to it is because they watch alot of TV and TV shows sex all the time. With that in mind they go and try it out and if it fits they do it more and more until they are sex addicts, fiends of passion.

maybe in some cases some teens are addicted to sex.. but everyone here seems to be saying that that goes fot the majority or all teens but this is so untrue.. i think its unfair that someone has said teens dont think of the responsibilty of it which is totallly unfair i also think its unfair to say that its just beause we can or that teens are only rebelling.. i think your all cynical and i also think you should learn that sex does not always end up in pregnancy..

Coming from the mouth of a girl who is in and around this situation now, i would say that the reason teenage girls have so much sex is because they want to be liked. I know many girls at my school who really dont even like the act at all but just do it to make the boys like them, rediculous as it sounds, this is true. For the few number of girls that actually DO like it they do if just because of that... because they Like it.
As for boys... need we even discuss it? lol, i have never met an XY chromosome carrier that doesnt like sex.
Overall, teens aren't really ADDICTED to sex... the few people who actually classify as this are addicted to it because they have addictive personalities and are prone to stuff like that. Just like a true DRUG the hormones released from sex become addicting to them and their bodies/minds begin to crave it. But the rest of teenagers are doing it because it's "COOL"
or for the precious few it is because they are in a loving and long-term relationship

Between the years 14-25, a young man cannot humanly control his hormones! It's impossible! A young woman, on the other hand, usually goes along with the invitation as to not offend her boyfriend. "I love you" she says, but really she just doesn't want to be alone. Sometimes the girl will do whatever the guy wants, just so that he wont dump her! twisted society, eh?

In the distant past (5000+ years ago) most people started having sex at 13 or 14 because their life span only lasted until they were 25! They had to have lots of babies because most of them died in infancy. The sex drive had to be strong enough to overcome negatives,e.g., dirty, smelly, hairy, bug infested male and female partners. Today people are cleaner and phsically more attractive while the sex drive remains at the same high level. Moreover, sexually mature teenagers are pressured to wait much longer before they engage in sex. The sexual stimulus is more arousing and the frustration is greater.

I think so many teens are addicted to sex because it is "extreme" for most of them. As they age, their "extreme" becomes more extreme. At age 10,(now days) it is "extreme" to kiss a girl. At age 13, it is extreme to have sex. At age 16, it is "extreme" to do erotic sexual things. If you ever get a chance, talk to someone who does erotic and sexual things regularly. As they do it more and more, it loses its value, so they make it more erotic until they are almost having sex with animals.

I would like to say right now that I agree with eternaleyes when they say that if the guy is in it for just the sex then don't be with him. I think that sex for teens is, in cases i've been in, a way to show how much one cares for the other. although in my case the girls have just been with me to have that name at school saying that they are going out with me and that they are only going out with me because of an increase in popularity. very messed up. In being a teenage boy and thinking out what was going on and what i was feeling i found out that to the extreme way to show affection i would have to take the next step and have sex with my girlfriend. well i can tell you right now that it was the biggest mistake of my life. not to say that i didn't enjoy it. I'm just saying that if you want to show true affection to someone there are millions of ways to show how much you care for someone. I chose after that to show "Love" by writin poems about the girl, rewriting songs and then for a talent show singing them infront of hundreds of people, and just by telling the person how much of a difference they make in your life and how much of their life you make up. All in all, if you want to show true affection for someone, you don't need to have sex with them, you can show it more with other techniques.

If teens thought it out. It's not that hard to think, "Oh, I'm going to have sex. I should probaly use a condom, and she should probably be on birth control."
Guranteed, these don't ALWAYS work, but the majority of cases (at least, in my school anyways) is that the peers are too drunk or horny to realize that 75 cents saves a lot more than a couple 100,00 dollars.

I feel that in this age many kids do not really get the attention they need. With both parents working, schools overcrowded, services lacking funding and assistance. All they really seem to have these days are each other. Though information is avaliable about precautions and consequences the knowledge, attention and morals of it are not really applied to their lives.
And I don't think it is only teens. I think it is from about 30 on down. As if in our parents generation of protesting to become their parents with each new generation the position becomes more and more relaxed. Parents are no longer parents, they are friends, or they are not there at all.
This effects all areas of their lives, not just sex. It's only that sex happens to be an interesting topic and thus is focused on, like drugs. Again, an interesting and heated topic, so it is more often discussed.
I agree that promiscuity may be on the rise, but again, I must state I think it is a part of children raising each other and themselves. Though they may not have the capacity today to rationalize things as I personally think people of their age should, it is still a fact of life, and an act of learning.

I really think that everyone needs to take a step back and realize that not every teenager is having sex. Those that have decided to by themselves. Media could have played a part but I'm betting that it was more pressure from other people in their life or the fact that they were intoxicated. That being said just because a teen doesnt have sex doesnt mean because they think they are holy. It seems to me that the people who are having more careless sex are "adults". Not just the teens.

It is a case of rebellion, experimentation, a method to get a boyfriend/girlfriend to stay with them, or something like that. Or maybe, they think they're in love. Cases vary. All I know, is nearly all of the whelps know nothing of what they are doing, the risks they take, the information they need to know, to have safe sex. They usually don't think about the consequences, they just do it. As a friend put, many years ago, "I don't care what happens. I'll just deal with it later, and enjoy it now." A truly immature thing to say, or course.
They all just need to pay attention to their Health classes, or go do research before they partake in the said activity. =_=

Adults i mean they think they know more than us, and of course they do if they have a great job which included degrees and what not but then if u watch the news and then hang round ur relitives they talk about the stuff on there and becuase uve seen what the news is on about you will see that the adults just make it up as they go along you dont tell them of course because they will just dismiss u just tyhink to yourself he he! they know nothing they are just born before you and have lived longer and in some cases are ugly! so when they talk about us not thinking of the responsibilitys of anything including sex they are maybe just picking on us becuase they wantto hide their own mistakes in a way people like to bully doesnt matter how old they are so adults are just a bitolder with money if we had that wed be adults they have just taken the title!

Teens should focus more on their education and not on their hormones. There are a lot of teen pregnancies occurring worldwide. Often the child does not know who their mother or father is. Other times parents are just not ready to take on the extra responsibilities and they neglect their child. Teens just make their lives harder when they do not have their priorities straight!
