I have personally seen the charred remains of an aborted fetus, seeing them made my blood run cold. I really dont think anything that has the potential for life should be treated in such a savage way. I am no woman and i am all for it being the mothers decision whether they abort a baby but seriously, after you see a few blackened arms and a charred little body and head (none of them actually attached) you might change your mind as well.

The situation in Germany:
Hi folks, I'm german, maybe you are interested in how is this goin on over here: In Germany a woeman is allowed to abort pregnancy until the 12th week (3rd month). It is her own choice. But she have to talk several time to her doctor and to an a psychologist, ohterwise she don't get the permission to abort. My opinion: Abortion must not (never!) replace contraceptives! But there are situations it should be the better way! (rape victim, teenager pregnancy and things like that) What I don't understand with you guys in the united states is, that a lot of people are against abortion. But on the other side you can order in the US test-tube baby like a shirt on ebay. -

Abortion is totally wrong
The common arguement is, what if a woman has been raped, and can't emotionally deal with having the baby. Ok. What in life is easy, in reality? Maybe she was raped, but is it really that woman's place to punish the baby because of another human's actions? And killing a being that has potential to make the world a better place would not be harder on someone's psychological being than having to carry that child. -

But your experience with being raped and bearing the child is going to be different from every other woman's experience of being raped and bearing the child.
That is to say, I am very happy for your choice. It is a great choice. But the real argument is does anyone have the right to tell a woman that she has to carry a child to term?
Do you think it might have been different if you had been told you have no choice? A friend of mine went through a very similar situation. And she carried her child. And that child is the light of not only her life, but so many other's as well. But it was because she went to planned parenthood and they explained all her options to her that she realized she could carry the child and be okay. But she would not claim the right to make that decision for anyone else.

Uh-huh, and pictures of women dying from peritonitis and gangrene following illegal abortions (which is the reality to anti-abortion laws) aren't pretty either. I've seen pictures of aborted fetii, but it didn't change my mind at all. I consider forcing women to give birth/forcing them into the hands of illegal abortionists a thousand times more abhorrent that aborted tissue.

That was his mother's choice. Just because some women choose to gestate rape pregnancies doesn't mean that all women should be forced to. For every woman who loves her rape baby, there is one who'll put it in a cardboard box and stab it to death. The procedure you have described is a saline abortion. They are no longer used. Actually we are all tissue, but some of us (ie, those of us born) are sentient, developed, and autonomous. The fetus isn't even solid until the bones have calcified during the second trimester. To be honest i don't care if a fetus is a child or a rocket scientist - a woman should always have the choice over whether she carries it for nine months.

I, and you, kill 'beings' with the potential for life on a regular basis. Don't sperm cells, and eggs all carry the potential for creating life? oh, and Kazrith, condoms are more like...99.5% effective. The only time you get numbers as low as what you seem to think is right, is when people don't know how to use them. Trust me, I took health in the bible belt. They wish condoms were as inneffective as you're saying, but the truth is, when people use them properly, condoms work. I didn't get my info from a website, I got it from a doctor who ran trials himself. Not on himself, but...you should know what I mean.

Implying what? It is basic first-aid, that if a victims heart has stopped you should attempt to resuscitate them by making a pumping motion with straight arms onto the chest region. This is then followed by performing mouth-mouth to allow the blood to remain oxygenated. If these people were 'dead' then surely first-aid is a waste of time.
*Edit* Have just researched the term clinical death- a medical adaption on the term death, after defibrillation equipment was invented. It is now considered a prognosis for death, rather than a diagnosis of death. Clinical Death IS possible to reverse.
My apologies to you Pnkntrnky, but my error can hardly be considered wanton stupidity, as many medical-neophytes have probably stumbled at such a distinction.

saying "what if you or a friend were aborted" is not an acceptable arguement because obviously we werent and obviously our friends werent.... and if they were it's not like we would miss them because they were never born or alive, ergo we never met them or we never activly knew of our own existance....
an abotion is nothing more than a function of society that allows us to escape from an undesireable fate... much as a defribulator or a pace-maker... except with an abortion you have a large group of people that have decided that their pastor has more of a right to tell a woman what to do with her body than she does...
and no, abotion is not for everyone.... nor is a defribulator, nor is being kept alive by machines... if you are a woman and you would not have an abortion even in extreme cases (your life at risk, rape, ect) i would equate that to having a "do not reccesitate order on your medical record.... it's right for some but not for others...
put a definitive yes or no on the subject is not possible because there is no one answer... not everyone shares the same values and there is 0 scientific data to support "life at conception" and there never will be because life is something that you define by experience... so to some, yes it begins at conception.... to others it begins at viability...

Well murdering people and tht is wrong. Some people don't want kids. They might not have money or a secure enviornment for the child. And adopting kids in other countries who are in need of it much more is better than adopting a child whose parents just didn't want them. And i know if i got pregnant right now i wouldn't want a kid!. I’m guessing you have never been raped. You have never had anyone violate you so violently you bleed every time you pee. You have never spent 3 weeks praying and crying your eyes out to God asking why is this happening to you. You never looked down at a pregnancy test and thought “this is the product of rape’’ You never had to walk to the clinic knowing that this was the only thing that could ever set you free from his grips because he was still inside you. There are plenty of kids who could use a home and why don't we try to find them homes first before bring all these new homeless kids into the world. I agree completely with the person who said this original comment. If we base our lives on 'What ifs' we get nowhere. We have to do the best we can with what we have. Some women may try to kill themselves if they have to have the child of the person who raped them or be depressed. It can cause serious issues for them. LIfe isn't fair. Being raped isn't fair, waking up every night with nightmares of what happend isn't fair, not trusting anyone cause they might hurt you isn't fair- plenty of things aren't fair but we need to do the best we can with them. It would be a injustice to the woman to take away the right to their own body. WE can't make that decision for them. Destiny is what you make of it! You can't mess with destiny, the future changes every second and fate has a way of happening without asking our opinions or letting us know its up to us. But there might be family members who wish their loved ones had an abortion instead of losing their future, their innocence, maybe their life if they were endangered by the pregnancy or killed themselves. Let's think about the consequence of birth... and the consequence of death before birth. It is not a simple matter and if procreation were not an important thing to our species, I would say,"Hey girl, whatever works for you."
Each of us has a personal idea of what the two possibilities are, but only the pregnant woman has to go through the actual decision making process if she becomes pregnant. She must be prepared to give her life over to an intimate relationship with another human being or she must spend a lifetime wondering about the aborted fetus. This is not a decision she should make lightly, is she is willing and ready to form the most intimate bond possible? If she is ready to give a lifetime of attention to another human being, then she should do it. Otherwise, have an abortion.
The man, whose feet are pins and needles at that moment when he ejaculates, sending a million sperm on a race to destiny, should know that, yah, it was fun, that that little tingely sensation in his toes was neat but for him too, it is time to consider if he is ready to be the responsible provider for the rest of his life.
Other than that, all he's good for to that one lucky sperm who wins the race, is to stand outside an abortion clinic with a sign showing a picture of a dead baby in a bottle.
For him to pack his wad back in his trowsers and go searching for the next fuck is what some lower animals do like fish and flies. Even Goddamn cave men took responsibility for their actions. But I'm not passing judgement... only making observations.
In any case, it is the woman's decision or it should be, no one else's. A newborn baby is a blank slate ready to be written on, made, programmed, brought up... whatever... but initially it is a blank slate, it is a nothing. That's the best time to destroy a life, not later on, when the person is formed and given a shitty existence.
