Why do most people wear clothes

Clothes are a sign of modesty and I’m afraid with (for example) my fat body a defense against polluting the environment.

Yes, why is nudity seen as wrong by so many? Is it they fear sexual perversions arise from it or is it just that we are diapered and have paints from our earliest memories?

  • No good reason

I used to think that seeing someone naked meant you would fully understand them, because you’ve seen their parts they reveal to no-one else.

Now that I’m in a relationship, I realize how wrong I was, lol At any rate, there’s no good reason that we should fear nudity (or going to the bathroom, but thats another topic alltogether).

Being comfortable with yourself naked and realizing that very few people are ‘perfect’ looking (especially without surgery), helps us to fully embrace who we are and be confident with ALL of ourselves.

  • shame...jealousy

people look down on nudity becuase for some it is shameful to see what others look like behind closed doors and some are just jealous of it. simple really it is the human mind discriminating and wanting what it can’t have.

  • Well I know why I do.

As I look out my front window, and watch the snow come down it is quite obvious to me why we have evolved to wear clothing.

  • We are programmed to wash....

Clothes. Different tempratures dipict a variety of ( modern day ) problems without the common materials we wear upon our limbs. Without the cotton industry back in the days etc. Long gone are the day’s of skinning a goat for it’s fleece because your chilly, chances are you’ll be down Marks n Sparks for the January Sale of pashmere jumpers, or even more to the point Hush puppies . Long gone is the hair and leathery skin of stone age man, we have tools now and titanium frames why not groovy wind proof jackets.

  • Hee, hee. . .nudity.

I can’t imagine someone riding a motorcycle naked. Ooooh. . .the possibilities. Need I say more. Yet, I have no shame but, it does get cold just the same. And while I may think nothing of it. . . someone might. . . on second thought I think I’ll close up tight, good night, hee, hee!

  • Many reasons

Protection from cold/heat/sun, thorns, bugs, gooey stuff etc. I also tend to wear mostly earth tones like browns and greens for blending with nature. Never know when you are going to have to run and hide. And I always say: “Never wear shoes that you can’t run or fight for your life in”.

  • a Mark Twain answer.

As Mark Twain would say, "Clothes make the man, naked people have little or no influence on society." So there you go, how would a naked person ever influence society and have purpose, they couldn't.

  • You're all wrong

people wear clothes because spiders and bees would bite and sting their naked naughty parts until they couldn't pee straight. also, the cold makes men shrink down to the microscopic organism that no woman finds attractive. women would love to be naked, but then they'd be called sluts by the less attractive women who have to wear padded bras to get laid. in a word, people are insecure about many silly things. if you disagree, i have one simple suggetsion: SHUT THE FUCK UP!

  • protective layers

Most people wear clothes because they are taught by parents and society that it is not appropriate to go around naked. Why do they do this because of mistrust, fear and the desire to protect. Young infants are often allowed to run around naked and it is usually considered to be cute. However once a child reaches an age and may not be under full supervision, children are told it is not appropriate to be naked. It would be nice if we could protect, ease fears and mistrust without instilling the apparel of shame that so often accompanies what is trying to be taught. On the lighter side: clothes do have redeeming factors they are a filter between you and other peoples farts.

Not all of us are super models. I speak for my self when I say that if I went around with out clothing, blind people would be envyed. Also I live in colorado and it tends to get very cold here so CLOTHING=GOOD Also, think about the nasty sunburns you could theoredically get.

  • argue the other way

i used to think we should all be happy and wear no cloths, because it was just stupid that we did...

but on second thought, why SHOULDN'T we wear cloths? they look nice, it's an expression of yourself, i quite like covering my body i ain't keen on showing it off, it gets too cold in winter (in the uk) and sunburn in the summer, impracticle situations like, umm, drilling concrete, eye protection yeh, what if you got a shard in your.... well... clothes protect from many things, think how scratched and stung your legs get if you go hiking through a forest in shorts... basically, i WANT to wear cloths anyway, there are some... bodily functions... some may wish to not display (erections, periods, etc)

  • Why I Wear Clothes (or not)

Clothing keeps me warm, cool, comfortable, or accentuates physical attractiveness...sometimes. But just like our skin & bones protect our hearts, natural clothing can protect our more fragile attributes. But the best protection is skin on skin, of course, and for that, the fewer clothes, the better.
