Why do most people wear clothes

Clothes are a sign of modesty and I’m afraid with (for example) my fat body a defense against polluting the environment.

Yes, why is nudity seen as wrong by so many? Is it they fear sexual perversions arise from it or is it just that we are diapered and have paints from our earliest memories?

  • Reasons To Wear Clothes:

    - Law. - To fit in with society. Humans are herd animals, we rarely like to be different. - Protection. This is protection from the heat and cold, and protection against things such as bug bites, grazes, falls etc. (Of course one could argue that natural hair protects all nessecary places.) - Identification. Clothes tell us others who we are, they show social status, personal taste, individualiity, occupation, religious affiliation etc. (One could argue that this is a negative effect on society, because it hides the 'real person' underneath.) - Modesty. Different people and cultures have different standards of what they feel is the appropiate amount and of body that can be revealed publicly. - Religious reasons. - Sexual attraction. - Traditions and Fashions. - Physical comfort. This ties in with protection from heat and cold a bit. - Feelings of inadequacy. Not wanting to show of their bodies because they feel they are unnatractive or not good enough. - Emotional comfort. Simply because I would 'feel naked' with nothing around me.

I wear clothes for all these reasons, mainly emotional comfort.

  • To increase attractiveness.
If no one wore clothes at all. Wouldn't we become more desensitized to the physical attraction of others. We couldn't have fantasies anymore because we've already seen it all. I think as well clothes are a means to express oneself and to protect from the elements.
