what are your ideas on deja'vu?

Some people have suggested that it could be a link to dreams; others (who take a more physical look at it) say it could be a chemical over-dose that sends someone into a euphoric state…

Any ideas appreciated…

i think dejavu is the aftermath of feeling loaded on some kind of drug. Not that I do any of those drugs.

  • It's all us

Deja'vu isn't what most people think it is. At least not in my opinion. I would say it is a form of disorientation, more to do with our subconscious telling us, this is a situation that might have happened to you. There is no mysticism to it, its just a part of our acknowledgement of how our lives are changed by the choices we make.

  • deja vu and string theory

I never did see the Nova program about String Theory but I came up with an idea ages ago about Deja vu that a friend of mine said was a basis of String Theory. My theory is that there are a multitude of universes that overlap like electric 'wires' laid out like grid paper but they don't actually touch each other, rather they merely lay within reach of each other. Every once in a while, a wire will a) come into contact with another wire for a minisecond, like a quick zap of electricity, causing us to think 'I have been here before' or 'this seems familiar', but at the second that it is acknowledged the sensation is gone; come into contact with another wire but this time get caught with each other for longer than a second, in which case we experience deja vu by initially recognizing it as such but the sensation is sustained, you interact with it, knowing exactly what is going to happen next but the minute you tell another person was is going on, it is gone; and c) comes into contact with another wire, overlaps it, creating a loop in their connection, giving the sensation of deja vu of the same experience twice, in a sense, remembering to have had the experience/like seeing into the future, and then actually experiencing the situation as you had previously seen it to happen but didn't actually happen at the same time the of the first experience. The link of the alternate universes is made by similar universes acting in similar ways but in different periods of time. Let me know what you think. This has been my own theory for some ten years or so now, without change. After I explained my theory to a friend of mine who is a mathematics professor, he seemed to look a little suprised by the fact that I had never heard of string theory. To this day I have actually read a very little on the subject but find it strangely linked to my theory.

  • all illusion

i had read an article about it. these are all physical things that happens in our brains. something like that: you collect something that you didn't understand or notice in your brain. after a time, your brain makes them in order and reflect your brain that they really happened. like a puzzle. nothing more. like an illusion.

  • Theories

well, I used to always think that it was because I had seen it in a dream, and then I read a really interesting book and it made me think - Sylvia Brown's The Otherside and Back (or something like that). According to her, before we our spirit is born into our body, we sit down with God (or whatever diety you believe in, personally I'm not sure what I believe in, I just think there's some power out there) and we plan out our entire life and make a blueprint. Then, on this blueprint, there are little moments when we feel like we've done something before (Déjà-vu). These are supposedly little markers along the way to let you know you're still on the right path for your life. I don't know how much of that I believe, but I definitely think it's interesting.

  • life path sign

I have always had deja vues and I can still remember the first one. Until recently, I only got them a couple times a year. Last November, on the last week, I was getting them at least once a day. I remember telling my friends that something big was going to happen soon, but I didn't know whether it would be bad or good. A couple of days after I said that, my mom and I were informed that my brother had died in Italy, where he was stationed. Thinking back, it all made sense; why I couldnt picture him getting married, going to college to become a teacher, I couldn't even see him coming home for xmas that year. Since then, I get deja vues on a regular basis and have even noticed a pattern. Two or more in a day means that something bad will happen and one in a day means that something good will happen. Everyday, I remember a dream that I've had either recently or a long time ago that tells me whether I'm on the right path in my life. Science can't explain that.

  • Hm.

I always thought it was what you dreamed before and it happens, then hits you like "oh." but thats very complex. I agree kinda with the phycology..thing. But You never know i guess. I get it all the time. And maybe part of it is because of the different brain channels, and the other part something completley different...

  • You should....
Whenever you experience deja'vu you should immediately predict what's going to happen next and see if your right and freak everyone around you out.
I had a dream once about a certain event, pretty lengthy too. But a year or so later I experienced that exact dream and I started telling everyone what was about to happen, and guess what? I was right. Pretty crazy stuff, Deja'vu.
