I believe abortion is wrong. And so is the legal system dealing with abortion.
For example: If a person murders someone, it's one count of murder. If a person murders a pregnant woman, it is two counts of murder. If a woman gets an abortion, it is legal. Why is this not thought of as murder?

U all say abortion is wrong, have you ever been in such a circumstance as that mother who gave up her child? And then what if a person is raped and their whole future lies ahead of them.Would you keep the child if you know you cant look after him.Ok now you will say theres always adoption. But what if your still in school, would you put yourself in hell,if you know that the child you carry are a rappits baby. And if you think abortion is a sin or wrong why dont you think the same about adoption.Isnt givin your child away wrong to?If you cant provide everything the child needs it would be wrong to keep him...again you dont know what the situations of that mother who had abortion was, until then dont judge!

Is a woman's choiceVoted for by earthmaster1481.
The woman should be able to decide what to do with her own body and it's no one else's business. The government should not infringe on this right of women.

Personal choiceVoted for by amyb.
I had an abortion 6 mnths ago. The father of my child was my partner and he suffers from very severe depression and it wouldn't be fair on him me or the child to grow up in an environment where there is a constantly ill parent. Subsequently we have split up and i do still stand with my decision to do it. It is a very very hard decision to make and not one to be made lightly. There are days when i regret doing it deeply but at the same time i also that at that particular time it was the right thing to do. If someone came to me and asked me if they should or shouldn't have one i'd tell them it's their own deep and personal decision and that they shouldn't be swayed by anyone else's opinion or feel pressured to do it or not to do it.

I believe the laws for abortion are hypocritical.Voted for by samierequel.
I believe abortion is wrong, immoral, and cruel. The baby is defensless, helpless, and blameless. I believe the laws dealing with abortion are very hypocritical because of the issue dealing with murder that was mentioned above and because our country spends billions of dollars to search for life no mars which could be a one cell bacteria but when it comes to babies a cell is not a life.
I believe abortion is very cruel because people wait and wait for years at a time on adoption lists, all they want is a child to love and hold, and it is very cruel and selfish to kill a baby that other pray for.

Its your choiceVoted for by HipKitten2.
This is a tough topic. I as of now am against it and I'm not saying that its right nor am i saying that this is wrong. Alot of us may say it is murder and i belive it is bcause at any point once life its that egg its alive and its human. I would say its ur choice beacuse now you may say no to it....but if you were in a situation where u were pregnet say ur 15 or 16 and ur got pregnet....what are you going to do? Your not ready to become a parent and have no idea on what to do. You may be one who is against abortion and than u may urslef decisd that it may be better or u may be one who says addotpion. To me it all depends on the person and their belifes. For myself as of now im against it but it could change with good reasons.

2 Sides....Voted for by sorrowfulangel06.
OK so basically abortion is either horrible and is murder...or it's simply a choice. Did you ever think that maybe abortion exists because of God? He created all things you know. But that doesn't necessarily mean that abortion is right. My honest opinion is that it is the woman's choice. Now let me share my story.. I was 15 when I got pregnant by an asshole boyfriend. I was so scared and I felt so alone. When my mom found out about it, she lost it. 2 days after she found out I was pregnant, she called the clinic and set up an appointment for me to have an abortion. I had told her I didn't want the abortion, but she insisted that it would be an embarrassment to the family. How would you feel if your own mother was saything this? I didn't necessarily want the abortion, but it has changed my life in so many ways. I know that my baby is now in heaven with God, rather than having a horrible life that he/she did not deserve. I think about her/him everyday and I feel as if my baby will be returned to me when I get pregnant at the right time. You may not agree with me, but that's my story.

TornVoted for by phantom of music.
I was raised in a conservative Roman Catholic household, yet my mother was always incredibly vocal that abortion should remain pro-choice. I adopted her belief until I discovered religion among myself, ect ect. So now I find abortion morally wrong and cannot imagine doing as thus. However, having never been raped or pregnant, who am I to tell a woman in those situations what she can and cannot do? As far as rape goes, statistics say that only 2% of abortions are prouducts of rape. On that note...what about exceedingly young girls? Statistics have also proven that the age of puberty among females has decreased dramatically. Conclusion: I personally don't like the idea of rape, but I can't make the decision for every other woman in the world.

i'm only 15 and think alot about this. I just think about the people actually trying to have a baby when others are getting "wasted" and sleeping with people then getting pregnant. It's wrong think about people who can't have babies before you think about terminating a young. you are lucky to even have a baby if you're being cruel in killing a baby if you think this isn't wrong then you must be out of your mind. This is killing so if you don't want a name giving to you like "murderer" then don't kill!

You're Hurting The Child By Letting He/She LiveVoted for by KissKissFry.
if you are pregnant, but you know you can not provide the care a mom provides, keeping your child is just hurting it.
abortion should be legal because it should ruin the mother and the child's life

NOT THE MOTHERS CHOICEVoted for by faithfullydedicated.
Many of the comments here have said that they believe abortion is wrng but the mother should have a choice. I think thats absolutely crazy. 1) you shall not kill - a commandment 2) abortion is killing a human life 3)why should a woman who is pregnant have the choice if she wanted to kill somebody or not? 4) if the woman was raped should the baby have to die for the actions of another man? 5) WOMEN SHOULD NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A DECISION TO KILL ANOTHER LIFE. and yes, i am a woman. I have never been presented with any reason why an abortion is morally accecptable. It is murdering something that God created that is absolutely beautiful. If you would like to present one to me, feel free to try, but i have to say, I think Ive heard em all

circumstancesVoted for by Scarlet Shadows.
i think if there's circumstances that need to cause an abortaion then it is fine. like what if you were too young? Yes there are other ways but when your alone and frightened then shouldn't the mother be able to choose? I mean it is our body to dso what we need to do. also what if your incurably sick and it gets passed on to the child or if there's complecations that could arise and in childbirth both you and the baby would die?

DependsVoted for by Vitance.
Abortion is wrong, but not for what everyone else says. It's not murder, because the fetus isn't even conscious. Is killing a lobster wrong? Or a bug even? Both of those are more murder than abortion is.
Abortion is wrong because the majority of those going in for abortion are quite young. these kids go around having sex and then they whine and cry that they're pregnant. Like they say, "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time."
I believe that there should be a ruling, like a court case, over certain abortion situations. Such as rape victims, or a flaw in the baby's development that could make it a living vegetable.

Wrong, you made the mistake why should the baby sufferVoted for by LostWithoutYou14.
It is completely and totaly 100% wrong!! Just because you made a mistake and feel that you cannot take care of the child or for any other reason does not mean that you have the right to kill the child. There is always adoption if worse comes to worse but abortion is killing someone. No matter what way you look at it you are killing an unborn child, who for your mistkae, is suffering. Its like getting pregnat then saying, just because i cant take care of the baby or i dont want my parents to know i screwed up im going to go and murder it. Thats basically what you are doing. This child did not ask to be born but it had the opportunity, dont take it away. Give the child life, everyone has the right to live.

Mother's choiseVoted for by WildRosetcmt.
What the Hell? Who gives a shit if the girl has been raped or not? If someone wants to have an abortion they should be able to. If the mother doesn't want a child or give birth to one then why should she have to have one?
Everyone is going to 'open their legs' at some point in their life, and most are going to happen when the girl is pretty young, and not everyone who is 'responsible enough to open their legs' are responsible enough to care for a child, in fact most aren't. Why don't you get pregnant at a young age and then see how you feel.
A fetus is a baby as much as a tumor is. It's not alive, it's just part of the mother's body, it's like an organ that's not needed.
My grandma runs an adoption agency, I think that the children in China are in more need of a home then a baby that is healthy and in a good environment. I would rather see those children are already 'alive' who are suffering have good homes and have a few other unwanted children aborted.

It depends.Voted for by Etre Passionne.
I think that abortion is the persons choice, and it always should be. Although I don't support it if a girl goes around and fucks people just because she can and then doesn 't want to deal with the consequence.
If you think that your responsible and mature enough to go around and have sex, safe or not safe, then you should be responsible and mature enough to deal with any consequences that come your way.
On the othere hand, if you're raped then you shouldn't have to deal with having a baby. It's not your fault that you became pregnant, and you shouldn't have to deal with it. Although, I still don't like it, I can see where you would be coming from.
Another way it may be okay to have one is if you are not able to have one. If it could harm you in some way, then you have every right to have an abortion.

why sowing?Voted for by wole.
I am not a bit philosophical in my thinking, but I think I am a bit human, if your highly sophisticated and philosophied mind will judge me so. The law of nature that governs sexual occupation is the law of sowing and reaping. In the process, both parties spend and are spent. Then, a seed is sown. I do not know of any reason why the seed is sown to be later pluck out of the earth an unborn. To say thet the choice lies with either the woman or the law is to say that truth is relative. If we are to be found just, based on this belief, we will have no reason to arraign the killer of our dear president, Abraham Lincoln, if he considered such to be his relatively right action. Any subject of debate is a weapon fashioned against the truth. Check your heart, you will know why you believe what you believe.

we are animals... arnt we?Voted for by FaLoN.
ok we are animals!! people forget that we are part of something bigger. if a wild animal has young and for some reason cant look after them, they kill it. when did we become so different?? i understand that it is killing but it makes me sad that there are so many children in this world that are unloved for some reason or another and i beleve some times getting an abortion is the only way to stop the child from suffering. yes i agree that women should be more responsible but why are we condeming children to endure a loveless childhood?

SIMPLY WRONGVoted for by faithfullydedicated.
This debate is from a Christian/moral standpoint. If you did not want me to use christian beliefs just e-mail me and I can give you almost better reasons as to why abortion is wrong. 1) A human life is inside the mother's womb. Most people arent debating this. People are finally acknowledging that it is a human inside the womb. 2) Abortion is killing the life inside the womb. correct? 3) KILLING IS WRONG. Commandment, thou shalt not kill. very simple. not complicated.
So that establishes that an abortion is killing. Which is wrong. Now here's to all the "exceptions"
1) women's choice and rights - okay so say a person believes that a woman should have a right to decide if it is a good time for her to have a child, or if she wants to get rid of it. Well, in the first place, if a woman decides that its not a good time b/c of her busy life, her teenage life, what her parents will think; then the act of killing the baby is purely selfish and wrong. - what about the rights of the baby? why does he/she have no choice about his/her own life but someone else does? Would you ever pick a random kid off the street and bring it up to a judge and say "okay judge, do you feel like this kid should live or die today?" and leave that kid's life up to one choice? NO. YOU WOULDNT. So why is it any different when a woman decides that she doesnt think the human inside her should live? That woman should not have the choice to kill or not kill a person. How can someone say she does? please, try to explain to me as how we can give authority to a woman to decide if she wants to kill a person or not?
2) okay, so the mother is just thinking that she wants the best for her baby, and doesnt have what she needs to feed it and care for it. - ever heard of adoption? its A MAJOR help! Even if you didnt want to go through the papers and stuff for adoption have you not heard of planned parenthood and other organazations in which you can walk in the door, set the baby on the counter, and leave? many firestations and hospitals are now taking up this policy and there is one in every city in the U.S. now that does this. Even if you could not find a place that did this, do you honestly think that if you were to leave the baby on the alter of a church that somebody would not take the baby, take care of it and love it?
3) okay, so lets say its not the mother's fault. Say she was raped, or incest occured. The mother didnt choose this path, why should she have to face the consequences? - allright well lets see, so0o0 many reasons.. Ive got too many so i'll put the main one down and e-mail me if got more questions. allright, a woman was raped by a disgusting man and she wants to forget about it and the baby would only be a constant reminder. Well. why the hell would you kill the baby for the actions of the man? It's not the baby's "fault" either. The baby didnt choose for its father to rape you. It just happened. You cant justify killing a person because it brings back bad memories or you dont want it. Same with incest. It isnt the baby's fault that its father was a bastard. It had nothing to do with the ordeal. Why and How could you kill the baby because of another man's actions?
ok, well thats all for now, e-mail me if ya want some more. I really am open to seeing your point of the debate. - BBaLL_55_17@hotmail.com

My body, my choice
I don't believe anyone should have the right to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body. In a perfect world, people wouldn't make mistakes and every baby would be wanted. Unfortunately we live in a less than perfect world, and sometimes tough decisions must be made. Leave it to the individual affected.
I am old enough to remember when abortion was illegal, and I know some of the heart-breaking consequences. I hope we never go back to that mentality.
