Is Love stronger than Hate?

  • Similiar And Opposite

I believe that hate and love are both exactly alike and totally differnt. They say that hate consumes, it tears some1 apart and makes them hurt themselves and people around them. Love has the same effect, it can cause you to do very rash things and cause pain to yourself and everyone as well. However, Love has the potential to be something great, something to die for. Hate is something to kill. If love is gone, you can always dream or hope for something new. With hate, you only leave yourself empty and alone.

Much like cold and heat have an equilibrium, so does love and hate. They neutralize one another. It's that simple. However, where you are in the world at what time may contribute to an excess in one of the two. But it really just depends...

  • hate is much stronger...

hate last longer (every emotion in my opinion is tempary). theirs a thin line between love and hate, but hate can give you the power to kill someone or anyone else to hurt that one person.

hate much like is tempary insanity.

  • love is stronger
i think love is stronger then hate.because you don't need much to hate a person, but need a lot to actually love someone.

  • hmm...
well, hate is far more abundant, but less potent...
while love is rare and powerful...

i guess it depends on how much love you have vs. how much hate...

  • Love and Hate are not opposites
Love does not hold me to conditions. True love(agape) means I will let go or I will sacrifice. I will protect and I will allow.

Hate however effects the person doing the hating the most. hate is negative and the hater usually pays for it the most and it is conditional as well as consequential. I cannot hate anyone and I do not hate my worst enemy, but I do have pity for that enemy.

I love everyone at AllPhilosophy! Peace.

  • Probably hate.
Considering that more crazy things have happened because of hate than out of love, I'd have to say hate is stronger or holds more sway in most situations...

  • 'Love' 'Hate' | 'Like' 'Dislike'
By stronger I assume you mean the strength of the emotion. This in itself is up for debate since you can 'like' someone but not to the same degree you 'like' another person.
Love, itself, (although 'loving' someone is presumably stronger than 'liking' a person) is also a controversial topic since the definition is constantly 'up in the air' and different people have different views/opinions on what 'love' is.

I think that in a general sense, both are equally 'strong.' When you love someone, no matter what your details in the definition are, you think about them. Maybe not constantly, but they're always a priority.
It is the same when you 'hate' someone. Harboring this emotional resentment or whatnot, they too will have a constant presence in your thoughts. For a 'stronger' example, those driven by revenge due to a sense of loathing.

When you love someone, you are deeming them worthy of your love.
When you hate someone, you are deeming them worthy or your hate.
They are too similar to be opposites and too closely related to identify one as stronger.
I believe indifference is the opposite of love since you do not wish for that person (or object, animal, idea, etcetera) to have any place in your mind.

  • love is not stronger, just better
both love and hate can be powreful emotions, but where hate will lead to destruction of ones own self, Love will bring blessings, and happiness. hate is atrractive because it seems to be the quick and easy fix, but all it ever really does is hurt. Don't beleive me? ask yourself this. do you really think Fred Phelp and his family are happY? I don't. I see what hate-junkies they really are and i try to imagine their home life, and what I see is so horrible, Hell itself could not be any worse. none of them are happy, because all of their lives are spent every day finding someone to hate.

have you ever seen two people in love? how happy are they? they could lose everything they own, but as long as they are together, they will not only survive, but come back richer and stronger than before. why? because thay are happy for what they have in each other, and that is a blessing.

so Love is not stronger, it's just better.

  • not true opposites
i am not convinced that hate is the opposite of love.....
the abscence of love is not the same at all. one filled with hate is far more comforting a human being than a man carring nothing within. nothing...no capacity or knowledge of love. devoid of passion and comforting; think on this please. i have met this, and swear to you with all that i am, that this is far beyond the horrorifying depths of 'hate'. it is nothing at all, but a pit of black with unrecognizable motives.

    stronger?
first, we need to forget about hate. that's not the face we're looking for.... recognize this and be sure to love with all you are- i will not succumb to such a shiftless, blankfaced monster.
you'll know when you meet it.
it'll teach you to fear, if nothing else.
