Eventually, we're all gonna nuke the bejesus outta this place. Who can honestly believe that we aren't? We're down the path and there's no turning back. But, hopefully, some smart person will discover a place where we all could live before we blew that up too, to bad only the rich could flee the world ending.

ok, well the world will end by large hippo's coming and setting fire to a pile of carrots. THEN a racoon will come and try to eat all the carrots before they burn up and tip the pollution over the edge. However, it's plans will be foiled by an EVIL chicken (which will look like this *glares in an evil way*) and that is how thw world will end and why not?

HypotheticalHave you ever seen the movie "Demolition Man"? Anyway the setting is in a futuristic world in which every person is peaceful.Voted for by Lost to Apathy.
It's basically a utopia except that there are "rebels" who still believe in our way of life.
Anyway what I'm trying to get at is what if instead of our world collapsing under the oppression of the Lord, or from a mass of nukes, we resolve all conflict and are somehow able to form, not only tolerance, but acceptance and pure open-mindedness to all other's beliefs, and are indefinitely able to coincide together under a single set of guidelines.
A world like this personally would suck, because I've seen the movie, but this would definitely rule out the " Humanity destroying itself" theory. -
Live Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Voted for by Flash-T.
The world will never end. We humans, as a race, and as individuals, will never allow it to happen. Personally, I think you all give humanity way too little credit.

We Are BornVoted for by SagaPoet.
Knowing too much destroyed Atlantis, and other civilizations. Knowledge is what everyone seeks..to know the answers to life's questions, but as soon as we know these answers (cures to sickness, ways to make peace) we will end up like the Atlantans. Its the cycle of things. Simply because there is no real peace with humankind, no cure for the greed and selfishness that is born with us when we enter the world. So in truth, the end of the world is brought about the same as the beginning...we are born.

You say everything MUST end. Lets assume that we live in an open universe that continues to expand which would mean that there would be always "more" out there. I think that science will eventually bring us to the point of doing the unthinkable. Maybe in a thousand years we wont even live on the earth anymore? Honestly.. though Id like to see this place wash away.

is it realy?...Voted for by luke van der linden.
the world has so maney reasons to become nothing but i will name a few you could say that the world is going to end by a metiorite, but the real one to think about is somthing that cant be controlled,,,the sun the sun is a important part of life but we cannot controll it no matter what people belive.on earth we have no matter no matierial to controll it no substance to hold it so what can we do ,,,nothing humans are pethetic compared to the sun we are nothing we can bearly understand the creations of life let alone preventing it from happining.but you may ask what will the sun do to effect us well,if it were to explode (it could be now)it would inverse but even befor that it would send out a massive radiation of heat that would simply destroy earth(kinda like droping a billion tons of nukleur war heads on earth)what if we survived that well like i said earlier the sun would inverse creating a huge black hole right next door to us sucking everything up and crushing it in half a second.even if we managed to survive that then we would have no sun creating us all to freeze and if some how we maneged to survive all of that there is still a metior waiting for us...

AsteroidI don't consider us the Earth, us being people. We'll be gone long before the Earth is. It'll be something like Armagedon (the movie), only NASA won't be able to put together that Coyote-Roadrunner thrust move to blow the asteroid to peices. That's not even a viable solution. The asteroid will kill out the human race and every living thing, including bacteria and the single cells.Voted for by Oral Fixation.
The moon had shielded us from these dangerous rocks for millions of years. Someday, the moon will fail to block a rock the size of Neptune, and the darn thing will smash into us, and blow the Earth as we know it to pieces. KABLOOEY! Nothin' but a little smudge in the mittle of the Milky Way.
It'll be raining Earth in like forty million years all over Andromeda. -
It will get very bad, but it won't end.The people of the Earth will not die off because Jesus said so; (Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. ) (the Moffat bible translation says that no flesh shall be saved - alive) . For the elect’s sake he will return before we destroy ourselves. But just before that, many billions will die in the tribulation and the day of the Lord (Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. ) . I would suggest that you read the fifth chapter of Ezekiel, just a few will remain alive and some of them won’t make it either. Still, the Earth will never perish because this is where God will live (Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. ) . (Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.)Voted for by mudgod.

Maybe it ends as the Bible says. Or maybe we all get transported to a parallel universe (scientests have declared they exsist and you can get to them through worm holes) where one decision you made in every day is different and therefore either the whole universe is different or it's pretty much the same. Or (according to the Mayan calendar) the world's ending in six years. December 2012. I guess we'll find out eventually, right?

When Hell Freezes Over.
I am just totally amazed that people buy into the notion of "life eternal." They just find it impossible to deal with finiteness. An how about the Bible??? talk about nuttiness, one would think that any intelligent person would put down their "funny books" when they reach a certain age. But no, is there a Santa Clause? Yes. Is there an Easter Rabbit? Yes. Does life ever end? No, you die and go to heaven. How about all the other unanswerable questions, what's the answers to them? Well, that's easy, consult the Bible, it has all the answers.
Really though, Earth is the ONLY planet in the entire Universe that has life on it and some day this life will migrate to other planets and some day after that, we will fill the Universe with life. Of coures, this is going to take a while. You won't be around, you'll probably be in Heaven by then, enjoying the holy music, the Angels and all the Saints.

And we won't be able to pull that Road-runner thrust move off with any amount of the current technology. It's not looking bright for the future of the Earth.
