I have often questioned myself. Can anyone commit a crime that is worthy of being put to death. I am not sure what my position is on this.
Please, discuss. I wish to hear your point of view on it.

I, personally believe that death is taken entirely too seriously when it comes to this subject. Before anyone gets mad, let me explain myself. Death by lethal injection is something I’d much rather take than spending the rest of my life in a jail cell. I understand that everyone has a right to life, liberty and the persuit of happiness, but when it comes to this, I’d much rather have the death penalty.

to the people that said we shouldn't kill people, just let them rot in jail for the rest of thier lives...that is stupid do you know how much money it costs to keep someone in jail for a YEAR?? let alone a LIFE TIME???? and you are too moral to kill someone who deserves death, but at the same time it's cool to suck LOADS of tax dollars out of Americans to let these guys rot away?? SCREW THAT, KILL THE BASTARDS, THEY WOULD RATHER ROT AWAY IN A JAIL CELL JUST SO WE LOSE MONEY?!?! COME ON!! KILL EM AND SAVE THE MONEY...

Kill 'em .... and here's an idea10% Voted for by Netanya Shull, The Blind Bandit.
First off, I say kill ‘em. People are in prisons using our tax dollars, watching cable, chatting online, getting degrees, earning money…things that people on welfare or on the streets can NOT do. It’s unfair. Just kill them; they threw their own lives away when they committed the crime. I have no sympathy.
Anyway, my dad and I discussed this recently; he presented to me an interesting method of dealing with this situation.
The inmate is given a sentence of, say 30 years. They serve the first 5 years, period. At the end of those 5 years, the needle is inserted for lethal injection, and then hooked up to an injection device. This device is attached by 5 wires to a computer, which has been programmed to randomly set off the lethal injection depending on the inmate, who has 30 seconds to push one of 5 buttons. The button she/he pushes determines if she/he is injected or not. If the button for injection is pressed, the inmate dies; if the button for injection is not pressed, the inmate returns to his/her cell for another 5 years. The inmate repeats this process every 5 years until the 30 year sentence is fulfilled, or the inmate picks the wrong button. If, by some miracle, the inmate manages to avoid the injection button, they are released at the end of the 30 year mark.
The beauty of this simplisticly complicated system is that each time the inmate goes in to the chamber, he can not know if he will die today or not. It recreates the horror and dread which his/her victims felt. In addition, the liklihood of avoiding that button (which changes each time, TOTALLY RANDOM) is highly unlikely. And even if they manage to avoid it, they are traumatized each time.
Who knows if it would really work or not, but I sure think it’s interesting enough to try.

My opinion -10% Voted for by Ava Noire, The Blind Bandit.
Yes when the person has raped/sexually molested and/or murdered a child.
To me that is the lowest thing a person could do. Rotting in a cell is too good for them. Why allow them to live? if they ever get out they could do it again. Too many children have died when the maggots should have been locked up in the first place. Most of the time the people who murder the children are repeat sex offenders who are out of jail, and on probation. The system does not keep up with them as it should.
Society is better off without the maggots who destroy the one thing in life worth living for - our children.

no, i dont think they should purely for the fact that i think that death is 1. an easy way out, shouldnt they go to jail and let this eat at them for life. 2. it would be a pretty hard thing to do without looking like a hypocrite, say if some one kills some1 and u kill them 4 killing that person are you not commiting the same crime?

I don't hate it or like it....Voted for by Morgaine.
Though I think death is a real easy way out for some criminals, I'm also not entirely against it. The only reason why I would object is because life in prison is much worse than death penalty. With death penalty you basically just punish the criminal's family. But I think serial rapists and people who really physically abuse children can get death penalty. World's not shorter of people like that...

No, there is no crime worthy of death. It is barbaric to kill a person like that. Cold-blooded murderers and rapists deserve life in prison. Maybe have testing done on them (spare some innocent animals). But that's it. Rapists maybe deserve torture...but even that is being fazed my emotion. Emotion has no place in a legal system. You put them in a cell. You give them the bare minimum of life, be barely civil. But DO NOT KILL THEM. 1. We don't know what happens after death. What if it's good? 2. Right and wrong are relative NOTIONS. Ideas. They're not proven fact. We can't prove they exist much less deduce actions as belonging clearly to one or the other. I know I'm not saying rapists might be right (I'm a fury against rapists) but we can't kill them. Castration maybe...added of course to life in prison.
But no. No human has the right to take anything else’s life like that. It's wrong. It's disgusting. It's barbaric. Let them live. I don't care if they're so sociopath that they never feel sorry for what they did. They'll miss something from the world, and that will eat away at them. Without making any other person guilty of murder. (it is murder to kill a murderer you know, you're planning before, do it with full consciousness, and perform it with malice/indifference).

Almost any crime against a fellow man should result in death. But the more serious crimes, I opt for years of tourture.

If there is anything that could anger you to a point where you want someone dead do they deserve to die? I'm not talking about a casual threat of I'll kill you before getting into some short lived scuffle, I mean genuinely lusting for someone's death. For example, if someone raped your little sister, would you kill them if you had the chance? If someone killed your wife(or husband) would you if you had the chance?

what could death to the person who committed the crime? have we experienced death enough to make it the ultimate punishment for criminals? who knows, they might even be thanking us in the afterlife! i think it is just plain stupid! why not just let them rot in jail forever? that way, we could be assured that they really are paying for the crimes they have committed.

If the crime was so horrible that you wanted to truely punish them lock them up so they have to deal with the guilt for the rest of their life. no one deserves to be killed and if you kill the killer how are you any better then they are.

Yes but....Voted for by green-eternity.
I believe that every sin is punishable by death. It is sin that makes us mortal beings, everyone who sins will die. But just because people have sinned doesn’t mean that we should speed up the process. As Jesus said when confronted on this subject “anyone here who has never sinned can throw the first stone” (john 8:7). So only the perfect can judge and by my count that only makes God. So therefore we should not sentence anyone to death because of what he or she has done coz it’s not our place to.

I am completely against capital punishment. As humans, we have no right to condemn another life to death. No one takes the time to go deep into the problem of why so many people actually COMMIT the crimes. Jesus, childhood issues and trauma, or something in one’s life provokes an individual to commit a crime or kill or rape. I am not approving of such behavior, but we need prevent these things rather than waiting so long and then killing more people with the government. Our morals are not worthy to be put so high on a pedestal to kill.

i think certain people are beyond hope and just need to be ejected from the earth. rapists, paedophiles, murderers. stick them in a barrel and blast them into outer space, so no traces of their foulness can linger
