Why is it okay to have things just for blacks but you could never have anything just for whites?

Why are there special scholarships for African Americans, special clubs, special months...etc. How come if you had something like that for just white people it would be called racist?

I'm just wondering what people think about this. (I know I spelled special wrong didn't I?)

  • Info on Scholarships

In case you haven't done enough research on your own, WE ALL HAVE SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIPS! SO STOP COMPLAINING ALREADY. THERE ARE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FARMERS, DANCERS, PEOPLE WITH RED HAIR AND WHO ARE LEFT HANDED. Do your research before you complain about minorities and special scholarships. There's room for everyone and I believe some of you are being racist and ignorant. Complaining will do us no good in case you haven't noticed. Please refer to Muted Delirium's comment under "it's not fair." I was so relieved to see an intelligent and well-informed person to reply.

  • hmm...

Why do African Americans even think of themselves that way? They are not African anymore than I am European. Isn't it where you are born that counts? No one cares what you look like anymore! Everyone looks diffrent! I think that African Americans should leave off the African part. Do they care more for African than America? Have most of them even been there??

  • Races don't mix

History shows us no multiculture works. Blacks blame whites, whites blame blacks, and all of society goes down in flames. Separate the races now.

  • Dammit!

Okay, I'm all for equality...but let's just get what EQUAL means!

Sure, you guys have B E T (black entertainmet Television)...Why don't we have WET?!

Being treated equally doesn't mean special treatment. You have all the same rights whites do, including job opportunities, so why do you need a damn college fund seperate from ours? People are like 'oh, we should have this day off because you white assholes enslaved us'. No, we didn't really enslave you, your own race started it. And hey, I don't know a single person who is still kicking from when that shit was still in existance, so why try to 'get back' at us, or get us to 'repay you' when you were never enslaved, I never enslaved you, and slavery in this country DOES NOT EXIST?!

Jesus and Magdalene, think about it! The only reason that I can see people wanting to 'get back' or be 'repaid' by that whole ordeal is to be flambouyant and stir up a shit load of trouble and get glorified.

You know, I have a LOT of black friends...I think they're beautiful and have interesting skin tones and everything, and that they're capable of doing anything I can, or any of my hispanic, white, Japanese, whatever, friends can do. All humans, no matter the skin color, are created equal in America, so let's just get off the crazy train and have a good day, huh?

  • Well go ahead and have your club: quite yer whining
I'm not really concerned about "political correctness'" But I will draw on a topic which may seem not directly related. I propose to link this to another question, posed by Yahoo Q & A participant, "I dont' give a fu-c-k." (Note that in Yahoo the censoring is so strict that no one is allowed the adult option to view content unfiltered).

    'I dont' give a fuck' has been a member of Yahoo Q & A since: March 05, 2007 Total points: 122 (Level 1) Why don't blacks make Kool-Aid properly?
I was at my black friends house and he made me some Kool-Aid. I watched him make it and he did not read the directions. He took 5 dieffrent flavors and a 7 cups of sugar and poured it all in water. I asked him the flavor, he told it was "red". Why dont they make it properly?

Here is cafégroundzero's answer, in the guise of hajgora seven:

    (cafeégroundzero):
"Tarasi, Fojimo, and Tatatiqua had very good answers, with which I would concur. Nonetheless, I'm going to hope that your question wasn't mean-spirited, and to answer to the hypothesis that there is a certain cultural preference, and note people I wrote cultural, not racial. Let's suppose that a great many, if not most, Blacks do enjoy very sweet Koolaid. Just a theory, mind you.

"He may have been making it "ghetto style." To understand, you would have to live in the ghetto for a summer, with a Black family. While I've visited many Blacks, I still haven't lived with them for long, so I would not presume to speak for them. However, I would venture to say they have their own way of doing things, which includes making tea, Koolaid, even bathroom gin, in a certain way.

"I've noticed that many of my Black friends love their drinks very sweet. This could be due to the tradition of making it sweet for those who had to work hard in the fields, hoeing peas, beans, corn, picking cotton, ploughing, cutting and putting up the hay, and so forth.

"Too, and I've lived in the South. It can stay very hot and humid. So you need a much sweeter drink, specially if you couldn't afford, or didn't yet have air conditioning. Nowadays, people have it, but the tradition of making tea or Koolaid sweet has stayed with many people.

"As a Northen-born transplant to the South, I used to wonder why white folks too, loved sweet tea. It's many Southerners, not just Blacks.

"Then again, it might have something to do with the fact that there was a time in Jim Crow South when Blacks were forbidden in many places to drink Coke. They were allowed to drink Nehi Grape soda. As incredible as it seems, the story has been told to me by different people, in Memphis, Kentucky, and Georgia.

"It's also possible that the oversweetening of Koolaid was an attempt to compensate for the deprivation of not being allowed to drink Coke."

Hajgora's Guide to Being Ghetto Fabulous ("Another Brother's Handbook" ® ). Being written as you read.

So, in conclusion, what does this have to do with having your own clubs or associations which are not black? Well, if Blacks can drink Koolaid, maybe we can let them join our Irish River Dance associations and elite Golf Clubs. Why not? And if you want to join the Zulu Fathers' BBQ Club, or the NAACP, you certainly are entitled to by US laws.

    BLOODY RUBBISH
Okay, this post REALLY pisses me off and I'm white. It shows me there are some ignorant @$$ people in here. WHERE IS YOUR REASON!?!?!?!?! Why do we help ANYONE or provide ANY social programs? Why don't we just toss retarded babies in the trash or give junkies more drugs? How about when you're old and decrepit, I come over to your house every day, humiliate you by knocking you out of your wheelchair, and take your social security checks? These scholarships and programs and sponsored by African American groups that only want to increase the opportunities for the underprivileged. Mark my words, it's because of people like the ones that posted this question in the first place that ignorance like this exists. SHAME ON YOU for taking what YOU have for granted. I thank god for the opportunities that I have that my parents did not growing up in bloody Communist Russia. Instead of praising people banding together to help each other you are condemning them for not including you. This is truly pathetic and I'm ashamed to even dignify you people with a response. Upset because you don't get "special treatment?" Why don't I come over there and break both your legs of and deny you disability benefits?
