  • Marriage = bad

I think marriage is a dumb idea in the first place, but I know not everyone follows me on that so I think anyone should be able to get married.

  • their decision

i support gay marriage. i believe that when two people love each, they should be able to do whatever they want. It doesn’t effect me in any way, so why should it bother me? It is not a question of morals, but a question of human rights.

  • What the hell?

People against gay marriage are using RELIGIOUS VIEWS, while congress gets to decide if its LEGAL. SEPERATION OF RELIGION AND STATE. We can not give all religions equality, so no religion should be represented in the government (doing so would bring us back to the middle ages!). It’s not like letting gay people marry is gonna spread gayness, its simply making two people HAPPY! Christianity is about equality and acceptence, Jesus never said that he hated homosexuality. Jesus does not hate anyone, and Jesus is a form of God, therefor, God wouldn’t discriminate anyon either, so why the hell is the Bible against gay people?

yes, it’s important to understand why they are being discriminated against. Let them marry. Hell, let them adopt while you are at it. I don’t see where people think it’s their business to say you can marry/adopt or cannot. Look at the heterosexuals! They get divorced, cheat, broken marriages with broken children…not to say that this would never happen in homosexual marriages, but why not let them have their chance to provide love and give love to children? CHildren don’t judge people like that, all they want is love and here we are going to deny them that and deny two people who love each other the chance to publicly show that they do? Besides denying them the chance to marry puts a strain on “who’s familY” issues like when one of them is in the hospital their mate can’t see them because they aren’t legally family…and that is a whole other story as well.

  • Live how you wish

This has always been my opinion, and always will be, and that is that people deserve to be happy and live their own lives how they wish. If that includes a gay relationship or marriage, then they should be allowed that right. Why aren’t these people allowed to live in happiness like straight people? Why are they shunned from society, especially a society like America that is supposed to be oh so understanding and free, and that is supposed to let it’s citizens live freely? Why should people who can’t change themselves nor want to change themselves have to? Just think about it. What if you were gay and you had a whole nation saying you are wrong and you are an abomination etc? Would you feel that this was the proper way to live in “the land of freedom”? I don’t. People here shun the minority, in this case, gays, because they are different. But, they are also the same, they are people just like everyone else and they deserve the same rights. Just think, way back in ancient Roman and ancient Greek times, around the time of Alexander the Great, it was socially accepted that people were gay, and they were allowed the right to be together with out discrimination. The strongest armies were made of ONLY GAY MEN because they would fight that much harder for those next to them. In that great society, it was fine to be gay, to be who you wanted to be, and it was accepted and even used to benefit everyone. But now, instead of embracing diversity as America is so known to do, this country shuns gays and dismisses gay rights, and by so doing think they will gain respect from the world, where, in my mind, they are soiling the intent of the founders who wanted a free nation and the idea that America is “the land of the free;” it is really the land of the chained and shackled.

  • Yes, Gay Marriage Should Be Incorporated

I think I'm going to tread on a few toes, but I'm going to be dead honest:

Homosexuality is NOT a choice. It's been deemed a choice by the bible of Christianity and its branches, and through the word of mouth passed down through many generations, it is considered a choice. This. Is. False.

It's a part of a human being. You're gay, or you're not. You can't CHOOSE to be gay.

Saying gay people can't have equal rights is like saying, "Hey, you're black," "Hey, you live in England," or "Hey, you're not as intelligent as I am," equalling from all of these, "You're fucked."

America is slowly getting rid of racism, and sexism in the general sense. There's still branches of sexism we're too godamm ignorant to look at: i.e. Homosexuality.

Don't let religion totally obscure your views. Homosexuality is genetic, not a choice.

  • No

No, I don't think there should be 'gay marriages.'

There should just be marriage and the definition of marriage should be expanded to mean two people who are in love with each other who want to live their rest of their lives together.

We shouldn't make any special labels for gay people.

Love is love, and marriage is marriage.

Gay marriage still sounds like the governmet treating gays as second class citizens and that is not good enough for me.

    I am for equality.

  • Is it just me noticing this?

---Does our country tend to always find a way to squabble over the most idiotic cases of unjustified ignorance or is it just me noticing this? Can't we just for a few moments pretend that we're intelligent individuals? The concept of logic isn't really all that diffucult to handle once you first just give it a try. Go on, you know you want to. All the popular kids are doing it.

---Now for a fun little internet quiz!

---Read through this list of 10 real life opinions that a good half of the American voting public repeats daily as a kind of second nature. Keep track of how many of the 10 that you find yourself in agreement with as it will be your end score used for tallying your results.

    ----------

    01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

    02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

    03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

    04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

    05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

    06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

    07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

    08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

    09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

    10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

  • This is your wake up call...

First off, I believe the people who say homosexuality is immoral are stuck in the idiotic, closed mind ways of the past. It’s the 21st century, wake up. No one is perfect and every sin is supposed to be considered equal. I don’t think there is anyone out there that hasn’t sinned in one way or another. Did you know that cursing was a sin? Who hasn’t cursed at one point in their life? I think society should be smart enough by now to realize that people are different and you have to except that. Imagine being hated and bashed for something you couldn’t control. The gay rights argument is quite similar to the black rights argument that occurred long ago. You can’t put a limit or opinion on something that someone else can’t control. I wish people would stop being so stupid and selfish about what is right or wrong. These anti-gay folks are completely basing their beliefs off of what society has set out for them. Right and wrong is set up in our brains as kids, and some don’t ever develop their own opinions. Leave the bible out of it, and try to make up a reason why it’s wrong. I know from experience that it’s not something that someone chooses. I’m a lesbian and I had a hate crime commited against me. After that, I tried my hardest to change myself. I dated guys, and was completely disgusted. I knew it wasn’t the place for me, but because of society I had to deny who I was. I made myself a sheep, and rejected my individuality. Fortunately, I realized that I can’t let the ignorant, UNCIVILIZED members of society control my life. Are you people really asking others to give up their individuality just because you were built to think it was wrong? Get your own brain, and when you do, you’ll realize that love shouldn’t be illegal. How would you feel if it happened to you? Think about that, I’m sure you never have. I’m not committing a crime. If anti-gays actually studied up on the causes for homosexuality, then they wouldn’t be so against it, because they’d realize that it’s not a choice and that many people now have a tad bit of bisexuality in them. Homosexuality is actually VERY natural. It’s around us everyday whether we like it or not. Eventually gays will have all their rights just like blacks got all theirs. When it comes to marriage, I think it’s a stupid argument. I wouldn’t want to participate in a heterosexual tradition, especially one that has no true meaning anymore. Marriage is a piece of paper and ring, big whoop. I’d rather worry about my safety and my future. I do know that when I get out of college, I’ll change things, and people will see things differently.

  • thank the gods they made CANADA!!!

I’m Canadian and i am pround to know that we do support gay marriages! even if the conservatives are in love with the old ways, you can no longer live in them. if Canada didnt support its minorities it wouldnt be one of the greatest countries to live in! canada has been ruled by a minority for years! and if you think that minorities are horrible, than consider this, a minority government must treat its country and its citizens with the utmost respect, cause if they dont, they loose their power and with no power, well you know. the liberals support gay marriages because they know that its their right, just like the constitution says it is. if we were to turn around and ban it like the consevatives want, they’ll just show themselves as meak. there is opposition to this, but, in the end, the result will be the same. (look at black freedom).

here is a little quote from m-w.com:

1 a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage b : the mutual relation of married

its in the dictionary now! if you want, check it out yourself.

  • so interesting!

i think that gay marriage should be legal (and is in Canada, my home and nation (proud of it)) if any american really really really wants to get married come north!! (or south east to thous in alaska) anyways, i have a fact worth sharing.

    *PENGUINS*

there are gay penguins, and americans have them in a zoo. wait, getting ahead of myself. okay, some penguins are gay and they *mate* *for* *life!* penguin marriage and (i no some of you dont want to know this but) they will even have sex (yes, just like 90% of gay men do and 50% of straight people), and they will even get a rock and pretend its an egg, they will both incubate it. but in an american zoo, some zoologists replaced this rock with a real egg and they carred for it and even reared it when it hatched. (so if penguins can do this, why cant humans?) so if god says this is wrong, oh well. learn from the penguins!
