  • France

Also I don’t want to hear anything about France because people may make it seem like their contract is the only reason they didn’t go to war with Iraq, but there are other reasons, and in my opinion, they shouldn’t need any reason not wanting to go to war with us, the world’s mos greedy country, and anyway they already saved our asses once(Does anyone here remember studying the revolutionary war??) • Hard to defend a nation by invading somebody else

I hear many Americans say that the war is defending their nation. How does bombing iraq defend America? Nobody formaly declared war on Iraq, but it’s ok to invade anyway? Not unlike Adolf Hitler and Poland is it?

This war is so gay, Bush us gay!!!! This war is pointless, why are we over there? Bush says it's b/c of Sept. 11, that wasn't even Iraq's, that was a group of terrorists, in my opinion we are terrorists to the Iraq's b/c they didn't do shit to us and now we are killing them left and right. My sister is in the army as a medic and I'm proud of her b/c she doesn't kill anyone she helps them, that's what we should be doing, helping the Iraqi's and the rest of the world, this war is very pointless and gay!!!!

  • Downing Street Memo

Need proof that Bush lied? Google the Downing Street Memo and read it.

From a meeting of British politicians in 2002. It states that Bush was planning a war in Iraq and he was molding limited intelligence about WMD's to support that plan.

    Why are we in Iraq?

Money? Yes, of course. For corporations war is money. How do we know this? Why don't you look up who has the contracts to rebuild Iraq, American corporations. So, we go destroy a country and it obviously has to be rebuilt so we get our corporations to rebuild it, that way our CEO's can get big fat checks from the safety of their comfy office chair. Then they can cart that money out of the USA and store it in overseas bank accounts so they don't have to pay taxes on it.

    Boy do I love America.

Why isn't the national media picking this up? Who knows. Perhaps our freedom of speech and press isn't so free anymore. Or maybe they'll get more ratings covering the Michael Jackson trial. It's sickening.

If only people weren't too lazy for the revolution.

Well, I'm going to drive off in my SUV and complain about gas prices while sipping my Starbuck Frappucino and watching Fox news. See you.

  • I agree with the war.

It is a shame that we have to come to war at all. But for all those people who say that the war is total evil altogether, I would ask, if you lived under a tyranical dictatorship such as the one set up by Saddam Hussein, would you like to live life that way, or would you prefer to have a stronger nation come in and liberate you? Also, the war was founded on good grounds, I believe. We did not enter the war because Saddam had WMDs. We entered the war because he refused to fulfill his promises to allow the U.N. to inspect for those weapons we were in fear of him making. If I recall correctly, the U.S. issued an ultimatum which clearly stated that if Saddam did not shape up in 24 hours, he could be assured that we would invade. As you can see on the evening news, Saddam chose the hard way. People love to try to argue that the war is about religion, about WMDs or about some evil plot to take over the world. But in the end, the war is about a man (Saddam) who chose to put his country in jeopardy for the sake of some unknown reason. Perhaps to hide WMDs, perhaps something worse, perhaps because of his own pride. This is not Bush's war. This is Saddam's war. Unfortunately, he left it for us to fight.

  • Name calling is for poopy heads

In my personal opinion, I believe that this was about revenge. The fact that somethign was up with it was obvious the minute Mr. Bush claimed Iraq had WMDs even though the UN had already proven that there wernew't any over there. I'm all for people being free, but the world is coming to expect America to do everything for them these days, and at some point we're going to tick off the wrong people and we will be attacked, but unable to defend ourselves because our soldiers are split all around the world. I would also like to add that there are a lot of people over there fighting that don't want to be. This guy I know, we shall call him Johannes, joined the military many years ago, and had already served his country and his term and was out of the military for good, but he was called up a couple of weeks ago to go to Iraq. Now, tell me, how is it right to send people to Hell when they have already paid their dues? Not to mention that many of the people over there did not want our help, and you can't deny that. Although, I am sure that some did. But the fact remains, as a country, we have NO right whatsoever to force our beliefs upon others, and that's what we're doing. Oligarchies suck, and that's what we have, like it or not.

  • WMD's FOUND IN IRAQ

This is an atrical from Neal Boortz commenting on the FOX story "WMD's found in Iraq"

The media is fond of reminding us that no Weapons of Mass Destruction were ever found in Iraq. This has been the clarion call of the Democrats for a couple of years now. However, did you know that WMD were found in Iraq? Not just a couple...but lots of them. A mother who lost her son in Iraq was interviewed on Fox News had this to say: "I have seen photos of entire fighter jets buried in the sand. I have seen pictures of entire caches of weapons that just my son's unit would uncover." I wonder why we never hear much about that one? Here's also a nice little list of what was found:

-500 tons...that's right...TONS...make that 1million pounds of yellow cake uranium. It was found at Saddam's nuclear weapons facility (yup...he had one of those too.)

-1.8 tons of partially enriched uranium found at the same place. You know, the stuff you need to make nukes.

    -Hidden centrifuge parts and blueprints.

-Two dozen artillery shells loaded with Sarin and mustard gas.

Sounds like WMD to me! You may want to print this off and impress your friends with your knowledge.

I hate to gloat, BUT... Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • Iraq conflict

We as the last remaining super power have an obligation to be a defender of freedom. With that said, I am all for removing a tyrant through any possible method (you who are raging leftists would undoubtedly agree that Sadaam WAS a tyrant?). Nevertheless, the intelligence that got us into this war was flawed. There is simply no doubting that fact. But let us not forget that the intel of 15 OTHER countries was flawed along with ours (it is pointless to name all the countries but if you like I can post a list). Let us also not forget that if the U.N. had been doing its job we probably would not have had to go in there. If the French, the Germans and the Russians were not in bed with Sadaam through the oil for food scandal, something might have been done about him at the U.N. Let us also keep in mind the dismal failures of Bush senior and Clinton in the Iraq problem. We were bombing Iraq all through the Clinton years REMEMBER? And if Clinton hadn't cut defense spending in the name of "balancing the budget" when he should've been cutting social programs we may have had both Osama bin Laden in custody AND the Iraq conflict resolved.

In a video game and you lose a large percent of your troops, you can still win. Same in real life but your using real people. I think Bush has forgotten that.

  • hmm

I think it is fairly pointless debating about whether the iraq war should ever had started, after all it has and even if you come up with concrete evidence proving why we should not have it still would not change the fact that it has happened.

I think a better debate would be 'should we pull out of iraq'. My opinion to this would be definitely not. To abandon a country like this when democarcy and freedom is just starting to emerge would be a terrible act od betrayl. People are beggining to put their faith in the occupying forces (which are not just the US you know...) and to withdraw and abandon them to an anarchistic society with no chance of economic recovery would be worse than re-appointing Saddam as ruler.

By the way oil trading oil to other countries is beneficial to iraq as well as the countries recieving the oil, as long as it is done without corruption- which would be impossible in saddam's regime

  • Facts

I can uderstand that some people want a war when they feel attacked by another country. That's why a lot of people in the middle east hates the americans because they feel atacked by them. Unfortunately they are totally right.

    - The Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11 or any other terror attacks against the united states. - the US troups went there cause they were afraid of B- and C-weapons. Until today nothing was found. So the americans marched in without any reason, just like the Nazis did it in europe.

Maybee so of you guys know the answer: How can a nation bring democraty and peace in such a way? Of course the Iraq was a very sad dictatorship in the last 20 years, but tho normal people there could live their lives and raise their children. Now it's pure anarchy! Of course they hate the americans, what would you do in their position? That's the facts why the USA lost the war.

  • Our American egalitarianism has allowed us to stray into disrespect and verge on mutiny

It is interesting to see that some retired generals have united to express their dismay about the way the war is being prosecuted. While I understand that the apparent dissent may be comforting to the enemies of America, the dissenters their selves may have constructive arguments which should be brought to the table. Why was their opinion not being heard? Why did they feel they had no other recourse than to make their expressions public? Is the Bush Administration suffering from "tunnel vision?" Are they too proud to admit their course has not been as effective as they had believed, and had led us to believe? Can we not both be aggressive in our war against jihadism and Islamic terrorism, while also opening avenues to dialogue with moderate Islamics and secular Arabs? And when will Americans understand that "united we stand, divided we fall?" What is happening to us? Where is America headed?

  • Bring our boys home...

9-11 was the catalyst that started this insane war, but right now - there are 50 suicide bombers waiting in Iraq & Pakistan to take off and land in different countries around the world. This is no longer a war about freedom.

Whether or not the war stops - and it won't anytime soon - those suicide bombers will go off in the next few years. Each one, bringing chaos and death to lands far away from america.

We aren't winning anything. More and more people are dying over there. if it isn't civilians getting killed by roadside bombs of their own countries makings, it's our soldiers walking on a bomb, or being shot down in a helicopter.

the last time 10 men died. that's the last record on internet and in the newspaper, but news comes slow to the americans - by now - many more boys have died.

the army, navy have ads on TV all day long, because they can't get anyone to join forces to fight a war nobody believes in... now they have removed the ban to allow people with tattoos... now they are welcome in the army, navy - where never before they have been.

they can't find people to fight - those men were supposed to be on tour of duty for 8 months, some have been there for a year or longer, but most die before they ever get a chance to come home.

and the injured service men, have to wait to be seen by paramedics in bombed out buildings with no water, and no air conditioning, and that is only the men who can get to shelter - the one's who have no legs left are out there in 130 burning sun - dying of starvation and dehydration.

would you want your son, daughter, mother, father, friend, sister or brother to die for a war for nothing.

  • It is only to an individual that the soul is given~Einstein

I don't think it is right at all. What gives Bush the right to send troops in Iraq, kill civilians by mistake (oopss my bad...see ya in heaven)and start a sparkle of a world conflict? If it will not end, something bad might be produced as a result of the contradictions in the Middle East. Bush should have thought twice about this...I do not want to witness World War III!

  • This fence is getting uncomfortable...

A lot of peoples' opinions seems to centre around George Bush, and what he has chosen to do, and this might sound flippant but I think it's important: George Bush didn't just wake up one day and decide he wanted to go to war with Iraq, it's not that simple. I'm not sure of the ins and outs of American politics, but surely the rest of the government had to agree, surely the majority of the general public had to agree, or at the very least not disagree? (There are other issues here on the reality of freedom in modern democracy, but I guess that's another debate...) We cannot pin the responsibility of the war in Iraq ENTIRLEY on George Bush.

Saying that though, the government were clearly not honest about their reasons for going to war. This seems to be another cause for opposition against the war, although maybe the government were justified about their real reasons? If they had come straight out and said they were going to war for oil the war would probably not have happened. (I do believe oil is one of the reasons, if not the main reason. To go off on a bit of a tangent, we are facing an energy crisis after all, why do you think Tony Blair is planning on building nuclear power stations? Yes the environmental reasons are plausible, but consider what will happen to our economy if we run out of fossil fuels?)

At the end of the day, I think that the humanitarian justifications were more like benefits or side effects than actual reasons, the real reason is a selfish one; we need security, we are being threatened and need to assert our power in order to ensure our own well-being.

The moral implications of this are blurry, and there is definitely some severe human rights abusage going on, but on a purely practical level, I can see their point.

  • It was OUR choice.
So, bush blames iraq for being associated with 9/11,
says they have weapons of mass destruction and invades
    iraq without anyone's say, right?

    Not quite.
If you recall, Bush didn't blame iraq. In september of
2003, he said "We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein
was involved with the 11 September attacks."

Also, not only bush and the republican party, but also
clinton and the democratic party believed that iraq had
weapons of mass destruction. Hillary Clinton said on
october 8th, 2002... "It is clear, however, that if
left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to
increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical
warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear
    weapons."

Ok..well we still know bush did it on his own, right?
Of course not. Thanks to the wonderful government set
up by the Constitution, governmental power has checks
and balances. What does that mean? It means that even
though bush is the commander and chief, he cant move
without congress's pocketbook. you might say, "so
what?", so that means that congress approved our moving
    into iraq.

    What do we do now?
Obviously we are in a fix. Everyone, democrats and
republicans included, want our troops back home.
Granted, we cant just pull them out. What we CAN do is
support our government wholeheartedly. Why? Think
about it. This isn't the first fix the U.S. has ever
been in. When we first intered the world wars, things
weren't looking so hot. Looking back, we had total
victory. What makes then different from now? They had
the WHOLE COUNTRY behind them. Sure, leaders of the
mid-nineteen hundreds make some pretty stupid mistakes.
Still, they had the people's unflinching support. If
we are going to make this thing better, we need to act
as one country, not as a bunch of arguing kids. ~
